Dear sangha,
The Magical Display of the Arts and the Friends of Lama Tharchin have designed and crafted these hand-painted seed syllables on raw silk over a stretched canvas frame. The calligraphy of these seed syllables was created by Lama Tharchin Rinpoche, and is in the style of the Repkong tradition of Tibetan Nyingmapa yogis.
Created here at Pema Osel Ling retreat center, the Magical Display of the Arts works tirelessly to capture precise detail when crafting these beautiful pieces.
Seed Syllables are the unborn natural sound of dharmata, the nature of reality, which is great emptiness, free from dualism. Deities are actually wisdom, and wisdom is never based on dualism. All deities are connected to an individual seed syllable, called heart-essence seed syllables.
All ordinary syllables which we form words are connected to an object or dualistic thought, which turns our mind toward material and mental objects. Wisdom seed syllables, however, remain free from dualism and are never connected to any finite object, thus, it is wisdom sound that has the natural capacity to benefit and penetrate beings.

The heart essence syllable of Yeshe Tsogyal
|
The seed syllable BAM is the heart-essence syllable of Yeshe Tsogal. The character itself consist of three parts, which symbolize the three kayas and their corresponding wisdom dakini.
The tigle (circle) at the top represents the dharmakaya, the ultimate true meaning dakini. The da-tse (crescent moon underneath) represents the sambhogakaya, the symbolic dakini. The BA letter represents the nirmanakaya, the actual manifestation body dakini. These three, inseparable, are Yeshe Tsogals's heart-essence seed syllable.

Auspicious Seed Syllables
|
OM, AH, HUNG are the seed syllables of all wisdom beings and buddhas. Together they are the stamp of wisdom body, wisdom speech, and wisdom mind, making wisdom form.
During meditation practice the three places of any deity are visualized with these corresponding seed syllables; a white OM at the forehead, a red AH at the throat, and a blue HUNG at the heart center.

The seed syllable AH symbolizes the sound of unborn empty nature itself.
In Great Perfection, there are three categories of teachings: the mind class (sem-de), the expanse class (long-de), and the pith instructions (men-ngak-de.)
Gazing at this AH provides the support for the practice of the mind class. Though interdependent circumstances, gazing at the AH gives rise to realization of the unborn nature of great emptiness in one's own mind.

DHI, the seed syllable of transcendent wisdom, is the heart-essence of Manjushri.
Wisdom itself has no division, but we identify its quality aspect as the five wisdoms or Yeshe Nga.
The seed syllable DHI has five parts, corresponding to these five wisdoms: the ki-gu (at the top) represents dharmadhatu wisdom, the DA letter represents mirror-like wisdom, the HA (underneath the DA) represents equanimity wisdom, the ah-chung (underneath the HA) represents discerning wisdom, and the tse-drak (two circles) represents all-accomplishing wisdom.

Large DZAM Seed Syllables
|
DZAM is the heart-essence seed syllable of the five families of Dzambhala. Similarly to other representations of Dzambhala, such as thangkas and statues, this heart-essence seed syllable is a support for Dzamblala practice, and all wealth deities, buddhas and bodhisattvas.
DZAM has three parts representing the three kayas. The tigle (circle at the top) symbolizes dharmakaya; the da-tse (moon crescent underneath the circle) symbolizes sambhogakaya; and the DZA letter represents the nirmanakaya.
The dza-la (flag shape on top of main letter) has a hidden hook shape that on the relative level removes sentient beings' poverty while it magnetizes or hooks devas', nagas', and humans' wealth and prosperity, longevity, lineage, merit, wisdom, good fortune, reputation, and any other kind of desirable, glorious qualities. On the ultimate level, the enlightened body, speech, mind, qualities, and activities of the buddhas are hooked and drawn toward you.

Auspicious Tsa Tsas
Carefully crafted by The Magical Display of the Arts
All of the tsa tsas produced by the Magical Display of the Arts are connected to larger works of art they've produced at Pema Osel Ling. For example, the Dorje Drolo tsa tsas were originally made to fill the Namdrol Pemay Gatsal Stupa, and there are over 100,000 of these precious tsa tsas in the stupa. The white Vajrasattva tsa tsas are also used to fill stupas, and can be found in the kudun stupas of Dudjom Rinpoche, Thinley Norbu Rinpoche and Lama Tharchin Rinpoche.
The Dorje Drollo tsa tsa was based on one created for the Dorje Drollo Stupa built by H.H. Dudjom Rinpoche in Orisa. Lama Tharchin Rinpoche working with artist Elea Mideke brought out the details of this tsa tsa to develop the one we have today, thus creating a direct connection to the stupa in Orisa.
For all of the tsa tsas, once the original was given final approval by Lama Tharchin, molds were made and the manufacturing process began. The tsa tsas are hand cast using a gypsum cement, and sacred substances are added to the casting material. Once dry, they are demolded and after some touch ups of each tsa tsa, they are painted. The final step is the application of the appropriate mantra and blessing by the Lamas of Pema Osel Ling.
