Today is a great weather day for doing the bird walk at Montezuma Well and for attending a reception and presentation in the Beaver Creek School Boardroom by a Ugandan Medical student who is sponsored by a foundation started by Nathaniel Dunigan of Rimrock. We have amazing folks who quietly live here among us!
Not to diminish the pleasure of a beautiful day, but we were surprised on Thursday to received a letter from the Rimrock Postmaster closing the Lake Montezuma contract post office as of March 6 and giving those customers until February 21 to submit a change of address to prevent disruption of service. Not only does this disrupt and inconvenience individuals, but many of the area non-profit and service organizations use this post office since it is convenient to the Beaver Creek Adult Center which is a meeting hub. And we all lose the only postal service in our area which is open on Saturday morning.
Petitions will be in the LM Post Office and in the BC Adult Center as of Monday requesting an opportunity to appeal the closure. BCCA (Beaver Creek Community Association) has notified YC Supervisor Thurman and US Representative O'Halleran about this situation and asked for their advice and assistance.

will be hosted by NPS from 9 AM to 11 AM on the first and third Saturdays from October through April and back to 8 AM to 10 AM for May. Meet at the Montezuma Well picnic area. For more information please contact NPS at 928-567-3322, ext 0.
Saturday, 1/4-Reception of and presentation
from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM in the Beaver Creek School Boardroom by Dorah Dunigan, a young woman who was orphaned in Uganda by AIDs. She is on her way to becoming a doctor with the help and support of AidChild which was started about 16 years ago by Rimrock's own Nathaniel Dunigan. This special event is hosted by Friends of Beaver Creek Library. Refreshments provided. (See flyer below)
