graduation_cap.jpg Tomorrow the Beaver Creek Kiwanis and the Fire District Auxiliary both meet in the morning.  At 11 AM the Lake Montezuma Women's Civic Club meets at Robbie's and as usual has a wonderful guest speaker.  At the beginning of this month LMWCC held a tea and auction to raise funds to support their many community good deeds. Their current scholarship applications are located at various sites through out the area.  The Beaver Creek Kiwanis are also offering scholarships.  BCK  will be awarding three $500 scholarships to local graduating seniors that have been a resident of the area OR attende d Beaver Creek School. GPA of 2.0 or higher is required. The application can be found on line at www.bckiwanis.org  Submit all requirements by April 20. Any  questions, please call Eileen Conn, 928-300-6072.

On Friday is the annual meeting for the Beaver Creek Preservation & Historical Society.  Again, an interesting and entertaining guest speaker and refreshments will be available.  More information is below. On Saturday is the bimonthly bird walk at Montezuma Well and a Wild Flower hike sponsored by the Beaver Creek Trails Coalition. 

Next week the annual free dumping at the Camp Verde Refuse Center begins.  On Saturday is the sixth annual Trek for Tech.  This is a fundraiser sponsored by the Friends of Beaver Creek Library.  All month long there are National Park Service activities, demonstrations and lectures celebrating archaeology.

This is March.  Those events and meeting above are just a few of so many this month.  So, if you have a little time, please choose something to enjoy while in our beautiful area.

Friday, 3/15-The Annual Meeting of the Beaver Creek Preservation & Historical Society is at 10 AM in the Beaver Creek Adult Center. Everyone is welcome to enjoy Jana Bommersbach's presentation, "Wild, Weird, Wicked Arizona". Jana represents AZ Humanities and currently writes for True West magazine. Guaranteed to be entertaining and informative. Light refreshments will be served. A short business meeting and election of Board members will follow. Saturday, 3/16--The Spring Wildflower Hike  starts at 9 AM at the Forestglen Trailhead located at the intersection of Forestglen and Redrock Drive at the southeast end of Wickiup Mesa.   Hike from the trailhead to Russell Springs and back to the trailhead, approximately 3 miles total. Tuesday, 3/19-The SUNSET / FULL MOON HIKE starts at 6 PM at the Forestglen Trailhead located at the intersection of Forestglen and Redrock Dr at the southeast end of Wickiup Mesa. Hike the Cedar Knoll Trail from the trailhead to the Golden Gulch Trail junction and back, approximately 1.2 miles total. East to moderate intensity level. Thursday, Fridays, Saturdays, 3/21 thru 4/6-FREE DUMP DAYS  at the Camp Verde Transfer Station, 2600 E. Hwy 260, 7 miles East of I-17 from 8 AM to 4 PM. District 2 Supervisor Tom Thurman and The Yavapai County Board of Supervisors, working with the Public Works Department, is pleased to announce a community cleanup in the Verde Valley.   Accepted items are: household appliances, TV's , bagged trash, auto batteries, unmounted tires, furniture, and yard trimmings. Items that will not be accepted: loose trash, liquids, hazardous materials, cars, Ni Cad batteries, dead animals and any commercial dumping.  For additional information please contact the Yavapai County Public Works Public Works at 928-771-3183. Saturday, 3/23-- Sixth Annual "Trek for Tech" 5K/10K Fun Run hosted by Friends of Beaver Creek Library at Rollins Park in Lake Montezuma. Check-In at 7:30 AM. 10K begins at 8 AM & 5K begins at 8:30. Register now at www.trekfortech.com or pick up a registration form at Beaver Creek School, Beaver Creek Public Library, Kiwanis Clothes Closet, Cricket's, or the Beaver Creek Adult Center. Register by March 15th to be guaranteed a T-Shirt. On-line registration closes on March 20th. Healthy fun for the entire family. Entrant's drawings for great prizes donated by local businesses. Friday, 3/29-FREE Movie Night for 1st through 5th graders at Beaver Creek Baptist Church hosted by the Kiwanis Key Club. Doors open at 5:30 PM and "Ralph Breaks the Internet" starts at 6 PM. Snacks will be available for purchase. Contact Carol Keeton at 928-606-4050 for more information.

Tuesday, 3/12--The  Lake Montezuma Women's Civic Club  meets at Robbie's in Rimrock, 11 AM to 1 PM. Lunch (soup and salad bar) is $15. Debi More will be our speaker.  She wrote the book "When Your Loved One Dies".  It is a book about healing from loss.  Everyone is welcome to join us for lunch, see old friends and make new friends.  Come find out what is happening in Beaver Creek and bring a friend. Wednesday, 3/13--The Blood Pressure Clinic  is available the second Wednesday of each month in the BC Adult Center from 9:30 AM to 11 AM.  Come get your blood pressure taken by Sue Brann, RN. 
Saturday, 3/16--Bird Walks at Montezuma Well  will be hosted by NPS from 9 AM to 11 AM the first and third Saturdays through April.  Meet at the Montezuma Well picnic area.  For more information please contact NPS at 928-567-3322, ext 0.

Monday, 3/18--The Beaver Creek Trails Coalition Board  will meet at 1 PM in the BC Adult Center library. The meeting dates have been changed to the third Monday at 1 PM . Monday, 3/18-The Grief Recovery Course continues from 6:30 to 8:30 PM in Sheets Hall at Montezuma Chapel, 3450 E Rusty Spurs Rd in Rimrock, for 13 weeks. Your attendance can start at any week. Celebrate Arizona Archeology and Heritage Awareness Month with the National Park Service.
 
During the month of March, visitors from near and far will have the opportunity to learn more about Arizona's rich native history and archeological legacy.   T he National Park Service will be hosting a series of events and guided tours. In partnership with Verde Valley Archaeology Center, lectures at Camp Verde Community Library will be focused on recent research at Montezuma Castle National Monument. Our March special event calendar includes:
