Dear Neighbors
It's still that wonderful fall time of year. Halloween will be celebrated tomorrow evening in the Village Square. BC Kiwanis is grilling 500 hot dogs and giving away 240 apples. The BC Community Association is providing lots of candy & stuff in addition to that brought by our wonderful Trunk 'N Treat volunteers. Our Key Club and Southwestern Academy students are setting up games with prizes and Habitat for Humanity will have a game station. All ages are welcome to come enjoy seeing our terrific children and some of their parents in the cutest costumes ever and eat hotdogs and popcorn. The evening is expected to be cool but clear-60's. So please wear long sleeves and bring a flashlight and drive slowly. Also, please note that not everyone participates in Halloween. If a house is dark, please do NOT ring the door bell or bother these folks. Let's show respect for their beliefs and pass on by.
The missing horse has been found!! Katrin sends her sincere thank you's to everyone who searched or called in spottings. She (the horse) was located about 8 miles north of the Dry Beaver Creek Trailhead.
In the last week or so BC Trails Day was celebrated, and free flu shot were provided by the Yavapai County Health Department. Nurse Sally McCoy gave just under a 100 of us our annual flu shots. In the photo are: Phil Edwards, BC Adult Center president, assistant Heather, Sally McCoy, RN, and Supervisor Tom Thurman who visited with everyone throughout the entire event.
For those of you who missed some great Dutch oven cooking at Trails Day, maybe next year. However, you do have the opportunity this month to hike Golden Gulch with geologist Steve Semken or to explore the proposed  new Russell Mesa Trail with BCTC president Stan Mish. The details are below. Pictured is the new Wickiup Mesa Trails sign that is being posted by trail entrances.
This weekend on Friday and Saturday the Beaver Creek Adult Center is again hosting their annual Arts, Crafts and Bake Sale indoors and outside in the BCCA Rollins Park. The Montezuma Rimrock Fire Auxiliary will be grilling some food in exchange for donations to their current "drone" project. Don't miss out on seeing the creativity of our residents. If you'd like to be outdoors, Saturday is another opportunity to take the Bird Walk at Montezuma Well.
Finishing the weekend, the Friends of Beaver Creek Library is holding their annual meeting on Sunday in the BC School Boardroom. Always educational and fun and includes some good eats.

Beaver Creek Community Association and the Beaver Creek Kiwanis with the help of Neighbors, Businesses, & Organizations are sponsoring the annual event
from 5 to7 PM in Rollins Park at the Village Square in Lake Montezuma. Trunk 'n Treat, music, games, hotdogs, popcorn, apples and witch's brew are featured. ALL FREE. Please escort your children to the Spooktacular. Bring flashlights since most parking is not lighted. More volunteers to bring their vehicles for trunk 'n treat are needed! Candy and other treats available. Please call or text 301-2749 (answered at Beaver Creek Transit) to volunteer.
Friday/Saturday, 11/2 & 11/3-The 20th Annual Arts, Crafts & Bake Sale at the BC Adult Center
will be held from 9 AM to 3 PM both days at
4250 Zuni Way, (across from Crickets) Lake Montezuma. There will be tables inside and outside in Rollins Park. Come do your Christmas shopping. We have very talented crafty people. Sunday, 11/4--The Annual Meeting of Friends of Beaver Creek Library
will be from 2 to 4 PM in the Board Room at Beaver Creek School. All members, guests, and those interested in learning about the activities of FBCL are invited to attend. Everyone is welcome to attend. He will share the fascinating story of his father's WWII service. The program will be followed by the regular meeting of the Board.

Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot to Commemorate Native American Heritage Month with Indigenous Arts, Crafts, and Cultural Event
In honor of Native peoples' contributions to American culture, Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot National Monuments will host special events each weekend in November to commemorate National Native American Heritage Month. Native Americans have added to every area of endeavor in American life. They built North America's earliest cities, domesticated its first crops, and developed its earliest great civilizations.
All events will take place from 10:00a.m. until 2:00 p.m. unless otherwise noted.
The National Park Service invites the public to participate in these events throughout November:
- November 3: Join us for our 4th annual Yavapai-Apache Nation Celebration at Montezuma Castle from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. This event will feature many artists, singers, and dancers honoring both Yavapai and Apache history and heritage.
- November 3-4: On Saturday, Jacob Butler from Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community will be at Tuzigoot demonstrating shell etching and turquoise inlay. On Sunday, Ron Carlos from Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community will be at Tuzigoot demonstrating the rare tradition of paddle and anvil pottery, knowledge carried since the time of the Sinagua and Hohokam. Join us for storytelling at 2pm with Ryon Polequaptewa at Montezuma Castle on Sunday.
- November 10-11. Hopi weaver Davis Maho will be demonstrating traditional Hopi weaving styles at Montezuma Castle on Saturday and Tuzigoot on Sunday. Jimmy Yawakia and Duran Gasper will be demonstrating Zuni jewelry and fetish carving at Tuzigoot on Saturday and Montezuma Castle on Sunday. Hopi High School's classical guitar ensemble will perform at Montezuma Castle on Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
- November 11: All National Parks are fee free for Veterans Day.
- November 17-18: Brothers Jeremy and Kyle Navenma will be demonstrating their artwork inspired by living on the Hopi Mesas at Tuzigoot on Saturday and Montezuma Castle on Sunday. Priscilla Nieto from Santo Domingo Pueblo, NM will be demonstrating her jewelry at Montezuma Castle on Saturday and Tuzigoot on Sunday.
- November 24-25. Hopi artist Norm Cuch will be demonstrating old-style katsina carving at Montezuma Castle on Saturday and Tuzigoot on Sunday. Samuel Masayumptewa will be demonstrating katsina carving and talking about the Hopi culture at Tuzigoot on Saturday and Montezuma Castle on Sunday.
