March 11 (Monday) 2019

Dear Neighbors

During the last three weeks lower Lake Montezuma has been a bee hive of activity cleaning up after the flooding and sand bagging in case there was another flash flood. Thank you to Yavapai Public Works for the heavy-duty equipment work, for the debris disposal containers placed in several locations and for continuing to replenish the sand and sand bag supply. Thank you to the Facilities & Parks Department for their continued work on restoring Sycamore Park. They even rented equipment to work in the park since of all of theirs was in use moving snow in Prescott. Thank you to the Probationers who donated their work hour requirement toward the cleanup effort. And thank you to lots of neighbors and area residents who showed up to help shovel mud, retrieve belongings and remove flooring. POBs (big Pats on Back) to all!!

On Saturday the Lake Montezuma Village Square was full of activity. Move than 200 folks visited the Canyon Medical Clinic during their Grand Opening Celebration and enjoyed the tour, hamburgers and hotdogs. Also, that afternoon the Verde Connect presentation was held in the Adult Center where a bunch of folks had an opportunity to ask questions, comment and offer suggestions.

On Monday the Beaver Creek Adult Center will again be very busy. The Center is located at 4250 E Zuni Way in the LM Village Square a couple of doors down from the Canyon Medical Clinic. From 8 AM to 10 AM a Donation Pancake & Egg Breakfast is available there. At 3 AM for the public BCCA meeting, a representative from the Flood Control District and one from Emergency Management will be attending. The purpose of their visit is to begin a committee to write standard operating procedures in the event of future flooding. If you would like to participate but can't make the meeting, please email the BCCA Board at [email protected]  At 6 PM in the Center Paul Giovanni of MerIT Technology and Fire Chief Terry Keller will be at the Center to introduce the proposal for the communications tower and to take comments. Everyone is invited to these three events.

Later in the evening the Grief Course continues at Montezuma Chapel. The group may be joined on any of these Mondays.
