The calendar crew hopes that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and enjoyed views of the snow-covered mountains and ridges surrounding the Verde Valley. Now that most of the leftovers are eaten, it's time to enjoy other activities and to continue the holiday anticipation and spirit.
Grace Community Lutheran Church starts their annual Wednesday Advent Supper & Service tomorrow and on Sunday has a Christmas Carol Service. The Kiwanis Christmas House will be open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday in the former Barefoot's location. This year community donations will provide gifts and food for 100+ children in 47 families. Additional Christmas items to sell at the shop would be appreciated. These may be dropped off at either the Christmas House or Kiwanis Clothes Closet.
Our Dump the Drugs opportunity is scheduled for this Saturday morning in the Beaver  Creek Adult Center. Saturday afternoon at 2 PM, a birthday celebration for the National Park Service anniversary at Montezuma Castle is scheduled. At 3 PM is an unusual treat for Creekers. The Parrothead musicians will be in the Beaver Creek Adult Center turning it into "Escape to Margaritaville" for the afternoon. All proceeds will be dedicated to the operation of the Center.
For those who would like to be a little more active this week, Emerald Waves Healing again features their Wine & Yoga on Thursday, the Bird Walk at Montezuma Well is Saturday morning, and every Saturday and Sunday in December free two hour tours are given at the Tavasci Marsh in Cottonwood. Also, local artwork is on display in the Beaver Creek Library throughout the holidays.

Some Beaver Creek Trails Coalition volunteers beat the stormy weather and exercised early be making and installing another sign kiosk for the Wickiup Mesa Trails System. This one is located off of FS 618 by the Elmore Wash Trail. Drive up there, park, take a backpack picnic and enjoy the hike.
On Friday morning, the Yavapai-Apache Nation has a Grand Opening Ceremony in Tunlii for the expansion of their transit service to Beaver Creek and Verde Lakes. Service starts on Monday, December 9.
And lastly, Pastor Ken Miller at Beaver Creek Baptist has been using a prescription discount service for quite some time and recommends it. He uses www.goodrx.com If you have questions, stop by and see him.

Thursday, Friday, Saturday, 12/5,6,7 & 12/12,13,14--The Kiwanis Christmas House
is located again this year in the former Barefoot's Market, 3315 E Beaver Creek Rd and open from 10 AM to 5 PM. Christmas gifts and food will be purchased for families with children from your donations for the merchandise. More Christmas are needed to sell. These contributions may be made at the Kiwanis Clothes Closet during their open hours: Tues, Wed, Thurs, Sat from 10 to 3:00 PM or at the Christmas House. Thank you to the community for their support for this effort and a special thank you to Steve Allgrove for again loaning the use of his building!
 Saturday, 12/7-Dump the Drugs
is back at the Beaver Creek Adult Center from 10 AM to Noon. This event gives an opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted prescription or over-the-counter medication (including ones for pets). Please drop medications off at the Beaver Creek Adult Center (across from Cricket's), 4250 E. Zuni Way in Lake Montezuma. The event is sponsored by the BC Community Action Team, YC Sheriff's Office and MATFORCE.

Sunday, 12/8-A Christmas Carol Service
is scheduled at 10:30 AM in Grace Community Lutheran Church at 5100 N Stevenson Dr (behind the fire station).
Sunday, 12/8-A Montezuma Castle NPS Birthday Celebration
will be at 2 PM. Warm beverages will be available by donation to support a Verde Valley Archaeology project which will support a travel fund for tribal youth to an art show. (See more information below)

The "Escape to Margaritaville" benefit concert
starts at 3 PM in the Beaver Creek Adult Center. The musicians are Kenn Trout, Rob Gibbs, Lincoln Thomasson and Kris Baldwin. These Parrotheads will create music from Jimmy Buffett, Harry Bellefonte, Zac Brown and the Nitty Ditty Dirt Band. Cheeseburger sliders and nonalcoholic beverage provided. $10 donation to the Adult Center.

Montezuma Castle to celebrate 113 years as a
National Monument
In honor of the 113th anniversary of Montezuma Castle becoming a national monument, the National Park Service invites the public to a birthday celebration. On December 8th, 2019 at 2pm, staff will present programs on the conservation legacy of Theodore Roosevelt and the American Antiquities Act. Gertrude Smith, Yavapai Culture Director, of Yavapai-Apache Nation will speak to the Yavapai perspective of the development of a National Monument on ancestral lands.
Warm beverages will be available for donation in partnership with Verde Valley Archaeology Center. All donations will go toward a travel fund to support an art show in August featuring tribal youth.
Our staff will make every effort to ensure that children and adults of all abilities are fully included in all of our recreation programs, facilities, and parks. Regular admission fees of $10 per adult apply, but there is no additional charge for the special
programs. All Federal recreation passes are accepted, including the annual, access, senior and

Tuzigoot National Monument - Clarkdale, AZ
Free Tavasci Marsh Tours for the Month of December
At the bottom of the eastern slope of Tuzigoot Pueblo lies the largest desert wetland in Arizona that is not associated with the Colorado River. For thousands of years, this marsh has served as a watery refuge for its surrounding desert neighbors. People have had a unique and, at times, unbalanced relationship with the marsh, which is now under federal protection as part of Tuzigoot National Monument.
Every weekend in the month of December, rangers will be offering guided tours of Tavasci Marsh. The first tour will be on Saturday, December 7th. Tours will begin at 10:00am every Saturday and Sunday and will last approximately 2 hours. Visitors wishing to attend these tours are required to wear closed-toed shoes and bring water. The tour begins and ends with a steep, rocky grade, so visitors may want to bring hiking poles for balance. Marsh tours are free, however if visitors wish to visit the museum and pueblo trail, regular admission fees apply.
