HINT: What do you do when there is no water in your home?
RIGHT you are: You go to the one of the remaining places that has running water....the Shul
A main water pipe, running 7 feet under the P-Road, burst. Our multi talented team, under the direction of Facilities Manager, Billy, sprang to action. A day later water is back on.

Hey, while we're at it let's fix another leak. The pool pump's water pipe coupling broke requiring a fix. Maintenance, repairs and upgrades are a way of life in support of our infrastructure and facilities.

The Comedy of Talia Reese
Saturday night, Aug 7, 10:30pm
in the Casino
|
|
As a baalat teshuva, Talia relates to crowds all over the religious spectrum. Aside from performing regularly at New York City's top clubs, Talia is constantly headlining Jewish fundraisers and galas. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and former Paul, Weiss corporate attorney, The New York Post recently featured a nearly full-page article about her life and comedy entitled, "Orthodox Jewish comic finds balance between raunch and religion," and called her a "Hot Ticket". Newsday Long Island has also taken notice, calling her a "rising star". Talia is a regular contributor to Fox News and Sirius XM, and her jokes and whereabouts are often mentioned in Cindy Adams’ legendary Page Six column. She has also appeared on The Wendy Williams Show and Spike TV.

Welcome our two newest TADPOLES Seffie Goldman (Sternberg) and Jack Platt. They proved their water competency skills by “swimming” half a guppy lap, floating on their backs for 5 seconds, retrieving a rocket from the bottom of the pool (breath control) and exiting the pool withOUT the use of the stairs, using elbow, elbow, belly, knee, knee. Well done!!!
|
|
Seffie and Jack are pictured here with Chaim Hornstein our newest, home grown, Beaver Lake lifeguard.
Although Morah Anne’s group was sad to see Chaim go as a counselor we are thrilled to have him as part of our aquatics team! Plus, he gets to re-connect with his former campers at swim time.

What are the lifeguards doing here?
|
|
You might be interested to know that in Beaver Lake, lifeguards don’t just watch the pool and give swim instruction. They also assist with pool maintenance and keep the pools running, on a daily basis, for all Beaver Lakers' enjoyment.
For example, lifeguard Batsheva Feder, and our LIT, Caroline Segal, are pictured here holding the manual skimmer and brush which are used daily to skim the leaves off the top of all three pools (yes we do that multiple times a day because our beautiful pools are surrounded by trees) and the brush which is used to scrub the scum line (which are the tiles at the water level) to prevent buildup. However, in this photo they are actually using those poles as manual pumps while our pool piping was being repaired. Instead of closing for the entire day, we closed for a half hour and manually did the work of the filter and pump so that we could open up the pool for the rest of the afternoon.
Thank you Lifeguards!
