It Bears Repeating over and over again...
Manage your Garbage
-
Keep your cans next to your house AND TIGHTLY COVERED and take them out to the curb after 12 noon on pick up days.
- Recycle cans should be at the curb no earlier that 10am on Mondays.
-
Never, ever leave garbage in plastic bags by your house, on your porch or by the curb overnight.
-
Garbage should not be put out on the curb on Shabbos, EVER
So what do we do when we see a bear?
Do:
- Use noise to scare bears away: Yell, clap, or bang anything immediately upon sighting a bear.
- Stay calm: Walk slowly and speak in a loud and calm voice.
- Leave slowly: Cautiously back away from the bear and leave the area.
Don't:
- Don’t panic. Most black bears prefer to avoid humans. Bears are more likely to be afraid of you than you are of them.
- Don't approach, surround, or corner a bear: Bears aggressively defend themselves when they feel threatened. Be especially cautious around cubs as mother bears are very protective.
- Don't run from a bear: They may chase.
Further Action:
- If a bear approaches you: Raise your arms and speak in a loud, calm voice while backing away.
- If a bear charges you: Stand your ground.
- If a bear follows you: Stand your ground. Intimidate it by making yourself look bigger by waving arms, clapping, shouting, or banging sticks. Prepare to fight.
- If a bear makes contact with you: Fight back with anything at hand (knife, stick, rock, or fists)

Dave Konig is a comedian and actor. He has made appearances on Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Crashing, The Blacklist, and The Enemy Within. He is also the author of a novel, Good Luck Mr. Gorsky. He has hosted or co-hosted several TV shows, and appeared in films. He won three New York Emmy Awards as the co-host of the comedy series Subway Q&A and hosted the HBO late-night comedy series Hardcore TV. In 2015, he guest-starred in the second episode of season five of Louie. As a comedic character actor, Dave Konig has appeared in such films as Final Rinse with Joey Ramone, Home Sweet Hoboken with Ben Gazzara, and Mambo Café with Danny Aiello. On TV he has appeared in season two of HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, and on NBC’s Law & Order: Criminal Intent. Recently he made 11 appearances as the featured guest comedian on the talk/variety show Late Night with Joey Reynolds on NBC Nonstop.
