*NEW* Student COVID-19 Training Requirement

A new year and many months of COVID-19 research bring more knowledge about the virus and strategies to keep our communities safe. This means that all students will be required to complete another COVID-19 training with Brandeis-specific information.

The spring 2021 student COVID-19 training will be available on January 14 and must be completed by January 25 for all students. For those coming to campus before January 25, the training must be completed before your arrival.

Check your LATTE dashboard on January 14 to access the training.

BCC January Virtual Programming

The Brandeis Counseling Center is offering virtual (Zoom) programming throughout January! Students do not have to be on-campus or in-state to attend virtual discussion groups and workshops. January programs include:

Coping with COVID
Walk the Talk Group for Black/POC Students
Letting Go of Perfectionism
Bereavement Group
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Basics
Fun and Alternative Ways to Cope

Apply for the HAWP Spring Undergraduate Internship

Looking to gain experience in the field of public health, health communication, or education? Want to support student health and well-being on campus? Got impressive social media skills? Apply for a spring HAWP internship!

HAWP internships are unpaid, but can be used for course credit, including the HSSP Hands On Experience (HOE). This position is fully remote.

BTW Application Opens Jan. 25

BTW peer educators empower students to prioritize well-being and practice healthy decision making around substance abuse, stress management, nutrition, fitness and mental health. This is a paid student leadership position within HAWP.

Applications for the 2021-2022 academic year will open on January 25, 2021. Candidates must submit their resume through Workday and fill out a questionnaire to complete their application.

What To Pack in Your COVID-19 "Go Bag"

If you are asked to quarantine or isolate by Brandeis or local officials, it's a good idea to have a "go bag" packed ahead of time. Having your bag ready can give you some peace of mind and mitigate what can be a stressful situation. Even if you are isolating at home and aren't going anywhere, a "go bag" can help you make sure you have what you need for the duration.

So, what should you pack?

COVID-19 Travel information

The best way to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 is to avoid travel whenever possible. If you do decide to travel, check out the CDC considerations and recommendations for domestic travel.

Here are some of the basics:

Do not travel if it is not necessary
Consider testing before and after travel (and do not travel if you test positive)
Do not travel if you do not feel well or if you have been exposed to someone who was sick
Wear a mask whenever possible and avoid close contact with others
Wash your hands with soap and water or use hand sanitizer often

Seasonal Affective Disorder

Seasonal Affective Disorder, also known as SAD, is a type of depression that is related to the changes of season and sunlight throughout the year. SAD often begins at the start of fall and can last through the winter. SAD can cause feelings of depression, low energy, trouble sleeping or oversleeping, and difficulty concentrating. If you think you may be experiencing SAD, don't hesitate to reach out to your doctor or counselor for guidance.
