100 Safest Days of Summer

The 100 days between Memorial Day and Labor Day are known as the "100 Deadliest Days," a period when teen deaths from motor vehicle crashes spike significantly, often spending more time on the road, speeding, alcohol and cannabis impaired driving, and unbuckled seat belts.

The National Road Safety Foundation (NRSF) is working to flip the script with the 100 Safest Days of Summer campaign, and Prevention First's Impaired Driving Prevention Program is proud to highlight this meaningful initiative.

Parental Provisions of Alcohol

According to the Illinois Youth Survey (IYS), social access for twelfth graders decreased by 18 percent from 2018 to 2024. For tenth and eighth graders, it decreased by 22 percent and 17 percent, respectively. However, during that same time frame, the percentage of youth getting alcohol from their parents with permission increased by 9 percent for twelfth graders, 5 percent for tenth graders, and 25 percent for eighth graders.

The APRC's Parental Provisions of Alcohol resource is designed to help coalitions support parents and guardians in choosing not to provide alcohol to their child.
