Racial Reconciliation:
Listen, Learn, and Love

For the past three months, we have been building our knowledge and opening our hearts to the imperative work of racial reconciliation. This month, we are moving into new territory and looking in our own backyard.

  • Who were the early Episcopalians in Goochland County and were they slaveholders?
  • What families, after Emancipation, were the founding members of Grace Church?
  • Who spoke against slavery and worked for change?

Join us this Sunday at 7pm via Zoom to learn more about our new research project, led by Elaine Taylor and other members of Grace.

  • Want to know what member of Grace was the son of the owner of Tredegar Iron Works?
  • Interested in which Goochland resident was a spy for the Union army?
  • Who was the slave, Martha Ann, and what do we know of her story?

We can't wait to share what we are learning!
For the Month of October

O God, you made us in your own image and redeemed us through Jesus your Son: Look with compassion on the whole human family; take away the arrogance and hatred which infect our hearts; break down the walls that separate us; unite us in bonds of love; and work through our struggle and confusion to accomplish your purposes on earth; that, in your good time, all nations and races may serve you in harmony around your heavenly throne; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
