Being Safe means looking out for yourself and the people around you. From understanding your rights and responsibilities to stepping up as a bystander, the University is committed to building a community where every student feels supported, heard and empowered to act. Whether it's knowing where to turn for help or learning how to safely intervene, being safe is something we do together!

Community Standards

Community Standards fosters a campus where students take ownership of their choices and hold themselves accountable to the community. Through a fair, student-centered process, we help students reflect, grow, and navigate resolution, balancing individual rights with University standards to keep our community safe and respectful.

Student Conduct

As a member of the Orange Community, you are accountable for your actions, on and off campus. The Student Conduct Code applies to all students from the moment you accept admission through graduation.

Bias Education

Syracuse University is a community built on respect and dignity for all. Students who experience bias are encouraged to report. Keeping our community safe and accountable is every ones responsibility.

As a student, knowing the Code and key University policies is your responsibility and it can make your transition much smoother. Review the following before you arrive on campus:

Orange Safe

Stay connected and feel more confident navigating campus with Orange Safe, Syracuse University’s official safety app. The app gives you quick access to important campus safety resources right from your phone and is a great tool to download before arriving on campus. Whether you’re walking across campus at night, checking in with friends, or looking for important safety information, Orange Safe helps keep you connected and informed.
