“The experience I had at Child Legacy’s hospital was the best.”

Charlotte Chikwatu, our Communications Coordinator and Project Administrator, recently welcomed her second child, a healthy baby boy, at our Community Hospital. Due to complications, she required an emergency C-section—but thanks to our incredible doctors, nurses, and the life-saving equipment provided by you, our faithful donors, both she and her baby received the best care possible.

Charlotte is a proud Malawian, born and raised. She was first introduced to Child Legacy through her father, Yohann, who serves as both the Chief Anesthetist at our hospital and the pastor of our church. If you’ve ever visited our Malawi campus, chances are you’ve met one of them—or if you’re lucky, both!

With a degree in journalism and ongoing studies in business, Charlotte plays a key role at Child Legacy, capturing powerful stories from our patients, students, and employees. Through her interviews, she helps us share the real-life impact of your support in Malawi.

But this year, Charlotte became part of the story herself. 

“I felt the same love and care that so many women talk to me about when they deliver here,” she shared. “The nurses and doctors at CLI are truly exceptional.”

Unlike her first delivery in 2020—when our surgical theater was closed due to COVID-related funding drops—this time, she was able to give birth safely at CLI, where maternity care is always free for every mother.

Charlotte named her baby boy Yohann, a heartfelt tribute to her father, whose dedication to both faith and medicine continues to bless the CLI community.

Water is Life: Celebrating World Water Day

With March 22 marking World Water Day, we recognize the vital role clean water plays in health and survival. This year alone, we’ve already repaired over 50 water wells, restoring access to safe drinking water for thousands of people in Malawi and Zimbabwe. Every repaired well means fewer illnesses, stronger communities, and a brighter future. Thank you for making clean water a reality for so many!
