Advancement Update
Scouts working toward Eagle should be sure to click here to check the district website for the latest Path to Eagle Flowchart! Active Scouters will also want to keep an eye out for the very latest Guide to Advancement 2019 (available at the Fickett Scout Shop - be sure it says "2019" on the cover if you buy one!). Finally, the 14th edition of the Scouts BSA handbook is now available, reflecting the new program name, updated Youth Protection guidelines and minor fixes to the 13th edition. Program elements and rank requirements did not change. There is now a boys' and girls' version which only differ in the images - all requirements and page numbers are identical.
Summertime is a Great Time for Training!
Lord Baden-Powell (the founder of Scouting) said, "Every boy deserves a trained leader." He also said, "Success in training the boy depends largely on the Scoutmaster's own personal example." Whether you are a Scoutmaster or a parent that drives kids to campouts once in a while, you have contact with our scouts and take some responsibility for their health, safety and development. There are so many trainings for Scouters on-line these days that there really is no excuse not to get trained. Commit yourself to take some training this summer. It will benefit our youth and yours!

P.S. The Boy Scouts of America has a goal this year to achieve 50% of all direct-contact leaders trained. Direct-contact leaders are: Cubmasters, Den Leaders, Scoutmasters/ASM's, Crew Advisors and Skippers. Almost all of the direct-contact leader training is now on-line. Don't you want 100% of the leaders of the Bee Cave District fully trained? If you are not fully trained for your position, take some time this summer to get there!
