A second opinion is smart. Here is why it should come from someone who has actually seen your roof.
We get it. When you receive a roofing proposal, it is natural to want a second opinion. With AI tools more accessible than ever, many homeowners are doing exactly that — copying estimates into ChatGPT or other platforms and asking whether the price is fair, the scope is right, or whether they are being oversold.
We are not here to discourage that. But we do want to offer a word of caution. AI works from general information. It does not know your roof. It has not seen your home's architecture, assessed your existing materials, or accounted for the regional factors that affect pricing and product availability in Chicagoland and Greater Milwaukee. When AI compares contractors, it is working from surface-level data — it cannot evaluate craftsmanship, crew experience, material quality, or what a company actually delivers once the contract is signed.
What AI gets wrong most often when comparing roofing proposals:
Regional pricing differences that vary significantly by market and season
The difference between subcontracted labor and a dedicated in-house crew
Product quality distinctions between premium materials like Brava and DaVinci and lower-tier alternatives
Warranty terms and what they actually cover in practice
Scope details that are easy to overlook without a trained eye on your specific roof
The true cost of a low bid that cuts corners on underlayment, flashing, or ventilation
What AI cannot verify — but we can:
A physical inspection of your roof's current condition
Accurate identification of storm or hail damage
Proper material recommendations based on your home's architecture and HOA requirements
In-house insurance claims support and documentation
A crew that has worked together for decades and stands behind every job
A local company with nearly 45 years of reputation on the line with every project
A proposal is only as good as the people standing behind it. We welcome questions, comparisons, and conversations — because we are confident in what we put in front of you.
If something in your proposal does not make sense, call us. We would rather walk you through it than lose your trust to an algorithm.
"Our cedar shake was badly in need of replacement. Keith M. was fantastic! He not only came out quickly to look at our house, he provided a quote within days.
Once we signed the contract, his promise date was exactly when they came. They staged all of the materials a day or two in advance and brought a crew that worked FULL days everyday and completed the project within a week...in fact, I asked Keith about doing a porch roof repair halfway in and he not only replied, he had a crew come on the last couple of days to replace it!!!
I was so impressed by their quality or work and ethic, I told my father-in-law who has since hired CRC to do his roof as well. If I could give 10 stars, I would. Thank you Keith and team @ CRC!"
