After Jesus called His twelve disciples, He wasted no time letting them know what it would cost to follow Him. He told them about the persecution they would face, the opposition they would encounter, the limited resources they would have, and the sacrifices they would make. He wanted them to understand the commitment required before they said yes.
In the same way, answering the call to write for ministry also comes with a cost. If you choose to say yes to this calling, you must be willing to make sacrifices.
There will be the cost of time, because writing requires consistent, focused hours carved out of already full schedules.
There may be the cost of family tension, because not everyone will understand why writing matters so deeply to you.
There may be the cost of finances, as you invest in tools, training, or adjust your work schedule to create space for writing.
There may be the cost of comfort, because writing stretches you and pushes you into unfamiliar territory.
And there may be the cost of perseverance, as you face discouragement, slow progress, or seasons when the words simply don’t come.
Writing for ministry is a beautiful calling, but it is also a sacred responsibility. And like the twelve disciples, I pray you’ll discover that the cost is worth it — because the impact God will make through your obedience is far greater than anything you will sacrifice.
Reflect & Respond
- What sacrifices might God be asking you to make as you answer the call to write?
- Which cost feels the hardest for you to accept?
- What step can you take today to say yes to the call ?
Pause & Pray
Father, help me honestly count the cost of writing for You. Give me the courage to say yes to this calling and the strength to make the sacrifices required. May my obedience bring You glory and touch the lives You intend to reach through my words. Amen.
