Community meeting on proposed Ashland Hospital tonight

HCA Health Services of Virginia is hosting a community meeting about its proposed Ashland hospital on Monday, July 31 at 6:30 p.m. at Chickahominy Middle School.

The meeting will address a rezoning application for the proposed hospital and associated medical and professional buildings.

Tomorrow is National Night Out

National Night Out (NNO) is an annual event designed to strengthen our communities by encouraging neighborhoods to engage in stronger relationships with each other and with their local law enforcement partners.

NNO is Tuesday, August 1. Last year, Hanover's celebration ranked first in Virginia and third in the nation for communities of a similar size.

Public Works Director Mike Flagg retires after 27 years of service

Public Works Director Mike Flagg retires today after 27 years of dedicated service to Hanover. He started with the County in 1996 and was promoted to director in 2006.

During his tenure, Flagg oversaw the successful construction of numerous County capital projects including the Sheriff’s firing tange, multiple libraries and Fire/Rescue facilities. We wish him a long and happy retirement.

Montpelier Recreation Center and Library goes vertical

Montpelier Recreation Center and Library has gone vertical! There are walls, floors and rooms. We're excited to watch Western Hanover’s community hub come to life.

The 20,000-square-foot building will house a recreation center with a full-size gymnasium and two classrooms in addition to a new library with a conference space and study rooms. It's expected to be complete later next year.

One of the newest members of Team Hanover comes to us all the way from Quebec, Canada!

Fannie Giguere is a recreation coordinator with Hanover County Parks and Recreation. Her husband's career landed the family of five in Ashland, making us the luckiest team in the universe.

We are excited to introduce to you another member of Team Hanover working to make our community fun, educational and safe for our little ones.
