Beginning Our Leadership Transition
Dear LaSalle -

An important announcement was made during this morning’s service. Pastor Laura Truax announced her intention to step down from the role of senior pastor. We know this announcement has come as a shock to many, and it raises many emotions: sadness, fear and worry, but also excitement at this new opportunity for LaSalle to grow and develop.

The purpose of this email is to make sure the entire congregation is informed and knows the upcoming steps. If you missed the service, we encourage you to watch the recording, available on YouTube. You can also watch the announcement from Elder Board Moderator Larry Reed and Pastor Laura's sermon, where she discusses her decision. During the service, it was also announced that Ami Campbell and Amber Johnson will lead a Transition Team, tasked with guiding the congregation through a discernment and planning process to recommend the timing of the transition (which will likely occur in November 2021) and the process. Listen to Ami and Amber’s announcement here.

Going forward, you’ll hear from the Transition Team regularly and they will invite your participation in the discernment process. (You can read the team’s scope of work here.) You can expect the next update in about 2 weeks.

In the meantime, we want to start with prayer. Please join us on Wednesday evening (June 9) at 7:30 pm, via Zoom, for a time of prayer. (Find the link here.) We will be praying through Scripture—please bring a verse to share and pray through.

We want to close with a reminder that God is at work. Our job is to discover where God is leading and walk on that path. We look forward to engaging in that process with you.

- Laura, Larry, Amber & Ami
