ODC Choir at Christmas

ODC Choir is being arranged by Bryce Tomlin – he is the music director at FUMC and he has sent out invitations to choir directors and church leaders of each Open Door UM Church to join mass choir – this will be for Christmas Eve (and Christmas Day?) prerecorded worship.

First practice is November 16, at FUMC at 6:45 p.m. and other rehearsals will be with each church’s choir – then the mass choir records on December 7. If people want to publicize this, invite people to contact their church’s choir director/music leader for information.

Sunday, December 4, 9:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

This Year, Give the World a Gift!

Don’t Miss the 2022 Alternative Christmas Market! There will be over 15 participating charities with both gifts and services to shop as well as a delicious chili and corn bread luncheon. The market is at Taplin Hall in the MICAH building this year!

The Alternative Christmas Market is a chance to do some good with your Christmas shopping this year. Honor your loved ones with gifts in their name to support a local, regional or global charity. Hand crafted, fairly traded gifts will also be available to fill your Christmas gift list. A Giving Tree will be hung with tags from Family Building Blocks and the Salem Literacy Project.

This a free event to support our community but we encourage you to bring a donation of non-perishable food for the Jason Lee Food Bank!

Food for Our Neighbors

Scott Elementary school is working hard to provide families with a meal for Thanksgiving.

Did you know that just $25 can provide a family with a meal for Thanksgiving? To make a donation please make donations payable to your local Open Door Church congregation and note Scott Elementary Thanksgiving in the memo. Donations that exceed the need of Scott Elementary will go to support children's food ministries across Open Door Churches.

Serving Jason Lee Food Bank, The Lord’s Cupboard, and Keizer Community Food Bank

The Open Door Churches invite you to join in helping to stock the supplies of the three food banks we support. Contributions from Morningside will go to Jason Lee, and those collected by First UMC will be shared with Trinity and Keizer Clear Lake, both of whom will use their donations for their Food Banks.

For December, all three food banks indicated they are grateful for all donations, but two items which are not necessarily provided through Food Share are canned soups with pull tab tops, so no can opener is required, and boxed cereal, especially ones which can be eaten directly from the box without milk. Feel free to share ideas for the next Food of the Month. Please watch for a poster at your church as a reminder.
