College Hosts Buff Branding Lunch

The Paul Engler College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences hosted lunch for the Buff Branding attendees on Friday, Aug. 22.

Each fall, incoming freshman and new transfer students are invited to participate in Buff Branding, a three-day event designed to help orient students to campus and college life prior to the first day of classes. On the second day of Buff Branding, each academic college hosts a lunch to give incoming students the opportunity to meet faculty and other students within their major.

The Department of Agricultural Sciences gathered in the Piehl-Schaeffer Pavilion, and the Department of Chemistry and Physics and the Department of Life, Earth and Environmental Sciences met in the atrium of the Natural Sciences Building.

Faculty members from each department joined the students for lunch, followed by a brief presentation to introduce themselves and their departments. Finally, students broke out into groups separated by major.

Back-to-School Extravaganza Kicks Off Fall Semester

The Back-to-School Extravaganza was hosted by the Paul Engler College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences on Tuesday, Sept. 3 at the Vernon Harman Courtyard, located within the Agricultural Sciences Complex.

Over 700 students, faculty and staff attended the annual event to celebrate the beginning of a new school year. Students were able to brand a cedar board with their graduation year and explore over 30 clubs, teams and student organizations while dining on tacos and ice cream.

"Our College's Back-to-School Extravaganza attracted the largest number of incoming and returning students in history," said Dr. Kevin Pond, Dean of the Paul Engler College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences. "The students enjoyed great food and fellowship while learning more about the culture of our College."
