Meta-Analysis Confirms Integrated Care Boosts Mental Health Treatment Uptake

July 2025


A meta-analysis found that patients were 12 times more likely to receive any mental health intervention, 11 times more likely to receive a minimal dose of treatment, and 19 times more likely to receive a full course of treatment under integrated primary care (IPC) conditions compared to usual or enhanced usual care. The study highlights IPC’s potential to expand access to mental health services.

Collaborative Care Cuts Nonmedical Opioid Use in Primary Care Patients

August 2025


A cluster-randomized trial across 24 primary care clinics tested Collaborative Care adapted for opioid use disorder (OUD). Patients in clinics using OUD-focused CoCM saw a greater reduction in the number of days of nonmedical opioid use compared to patients in standard CoCM for mental health symptoms alone. This study demonstrates that OUD can be successfully managed in primary care through Collaborative Care.

Pediatric Collaborative Care Drives Major Gains in Youth Mental Health

August 2025


A pediatric clinic serving nearly 8,000 patients partnered with Magellan Healthcare to launch Collaborative Care for youth with anxiety and depression. In the first year, 84% of referred patients (ages 8+) enrolled, and over half stayed engaged or graduated with a 40% drop in depression symptoms over 12 months.

Digital-Enhanced Collaborative Care Delivers Lasting Relief for Depression

January 2026


Collaborative Care with integrated digital health interventions (online and phone-based) led to sustained reductions in depressive symptoms for up to 24 months. It also improved anxiety symptoms and positive affect across racially, educationally, and economically diverse populations.
