Well Attended Beyond Inclusion Conference a Success | |
|
The Oxford Community Center hosted a packed house for the recent Beyond Inclusion conference. Speakers with lived experience shared valuable insights on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) reflecting the theme, "Breaking Barriers and Building Bridges." Live streamed on Facebook, the event attracted an impressive online participation. Attendees had opportunity to learn, engage, and connect on barriers to behavioral health treatment, services, and supports faced by the LGBTQ+, People of Color, African Americans, Deaf People, and Latinx communities. Strategies for building bridges to full inclusion and creating safe spaces were identified. Easton Middle School student, Stefany Fernandez, set the tone with a beautiful performance of the song "Rescue," written by Lauren Daigle. Kay Brown, Assistant Director for the Water's Edge Museum, greeted attendees with news of extended museum hours, welcoming participants to tour the museum at the end of the conference.
