KWPN On Top - Again
USEF Year-End Top Sire Rankings are out and the KWPN once again had a great year, especially in the dressage ranks where 7 out of the top 11 stallions are KWPN - including #4, #2, and another #1 ranking for Sir Sinclair, for the third year in a row! Not to be outdone, KWPN stallions also ranked #2 in the Hunter ranks, #2 in the Eventing division, and #4 and #6 for Jumpers. Congratulations to all!
Dare To Dream!
The Willy Arts grants (sponsored by Little Creek Farm) is a financial grant program intended to recognize and aid in the development of KWPN-NA horse/rider combinations competing in the Young Riders program. Three cash grants of $3,000 are currently up for grabs, and winners may use funds to cover lesson or clinic fees, competition fees for Young Rider Finals or for educational seminars or demonstrations. But time's running out - applications are due February 1st! APPLY HERE
What a year it has been for the Young KWPN-NA ! Willy Arts Honored
Congratulations to Willy Arts , who was presented with the Ellen Scripps Davis Memorial Breeders Award for his contributions to the sport horse industry during the Pegasus Dinner at the US Equestrian Annual Meeting in Lexington, KY this week. The award recognizes breeders who consistently produce outstanding individuals for the show arena.
Cuba Named 2017 USEF National Horse of the Year
Also at the USEF Annual Meeting, John and Stephanie Ingram, LLC’s 10-year-old KWPN gelding Cuba (Namelus R x Ups-A-Daisy/Mermus R) was crowned as National Horse of the Year! This incredible horse had an incredible year in 2017 with rider Victoria Colvin, being crowned as Overall Champion at the USHJA International Hunter Derby Championship in August on his way to earning the most prize money of any Derby horse in 2017. In addition, congratulations are in order to Laura Graves' 15-year-old KWPN gelding and dressage superstar Verdades (Florett AS x Liwilarda/Goya), who was recognized as a Horse of Honor in the International category.
2018 Keuring Tour -
We Need To Hear From You!
During last fall's KWPN-NA member survey, we received lots of great feedback about our keuring tour, with many requests for additional locations. Here's your chance to make your voice heard! Along with your KWPN-NA 2018 membership renewal, each member also received a keuring survey in the mail. For anyone interested in presenting a horse this year, please complete the survey so we can begin to plan the 2018 tour dates, locations, and tentative attendance.
But don't delay - all forms should be returned to the KWPN-NA office by February 1st (if you did not receive a copy of the form, it can be downloaded HERE ). Thank you!
Go Big or Go Home
Check out Hallie Coon on her stunning 11-year-old KWPN mare Celien (Tenerife VDL x R Quicksilver by Hamlet) as they participate in last week's US Equestrian Emerging Athlete Eventing 25 Program Training Session, January 8-11 in Ocala, Fla. with USEF Eventing Emerging Athlete Coach Leslie Law. This talented pair is aiming for either the Land Rover Kentucky 4* or Blenheim 4* this spring. Go Hallie & Celien, and go eventing!
