A Message From a Board Member...

It's July and we're about to celebrate our independence and freedoms. It feels like only weeks, not months ago, that I introduced myself, and now I'm back with more to say. We had a very successful season, and we owe it all to you, our patrons, and season ticket holders. Thank you. Where would we be without you?

You see the actors all the time, but behind the scenes, are members and volunteers working just as hard to bring each performance together. After auditions, the director gathers the tech crew, which includes a set designer and/or builder, lighting and sound personnel, and a costumer, if it's a period piece, to discuss the staging needs. The Stage Manager and Assistant Director are also present for this meeting.  Each of them will need volunteers to help with their responsibilities.

As the actors begin the rehearsals, our tech crew begins to look for their members and volunteers to start their journey.  We are always looking for more volunteers to help, that is where you come in, and the time commitment is your choosing. Dates are set for when work will begin, and this year, everyone will be able to see the calendar via our website, choose suitable jobs and times, and sign up to come and help. This applies to each production.

As we approach the production dates, volunteering to help with the concession stand and the 50/50 raffles will be available to sign up at your convenience on the website. We hope this will make it easier for everyone to see and choose their times in advance.

My journey started in 1982. Dolores Maloney was directing “The Sunshine Boys” in Ellwood City, PA and she needed a backdrop painted. I had recently moved back to the area and she also knew my major in college was Art. That was the first year I volunteered, and I stayed at the Red Barn all summer and designed my first set that season for “Not Now Darling.” I've never looked back. Thank you, Dolores! You gave me a love that has lasted over 40 years, and also for letting me meet so many incredible people along the way.

My message is to volunteermeet some people, and see where the journey takes you!

You can always call the Box Office for more information.

Thank you,

Josef Long

2024/2025 Main Stage Season!

Drinking Habits

by Tom Smith

Sept. 6th - 22nd

Accusations, mistaken identities, and romances run wild in this traditional, laugh-out-loud farce. Two nuns at the Sisters of Perpetual Sewing have been secretly making wine to keep the convent's doors open, but Paul and Sally, reporters and former fiancees, are hot on their trail. They go undercover as a nun and priest, but their presence, combined with the addition of a new nun, spurs paranoia throughout the convent that spies have been sent from Rome to shut them down. Wine and secrets are inevitably spilled as everyone tries to preserve the convent and reconnect with lost loves.

Doubt, A Parable

by John Patrick Shanley

Nov. 8th - 24th

In this brilliant and powerful drama, Sister Aloysius, a Bronx school principal, takes matters into her own hands when she suspects the young Father Flynn of improper relations with one of the male students.

Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike

by Christopher Durang

Jan. 10th - 26th

Middle-aged siblings Vanya and Sonia share a home in Bucks County, PA, where they bicker and complain about the circumstances of their lives. Suddenly, their movie-star sister, Masha, swoops in with her new boy toy, Spike. Old resentments flare up, eventually leading to threats to sell the house. Also on the scene are sassy maid Cassandra, who can predict the future, and a lovely young aspiring actress named Nina, whose prettiness somewhat worries the imperious Masha.

Squabbles

aka Your House or Mine

by Marshall karp

Feb. 14 - March 2

This hilarious play pits a father in law against a mother in a comedic succession of squabbles. Jerry Sloan is a successful writer of advertising jingles married to an equally successful lawyer. Living with the happy couple is the not so happy Abe Dreyfus, Jerry's curmudgeon of a father in law. Abe is a funny guy to the audience, not to Jerry. The situation is exacerbated when Jerry's mother Mildred looses her house in a fire and needs a place to stay. Abe and Mildred can't stand each other. This play is one hilarious confrontation after another until the heart warming finale in which the oldsters discover that, really, each is not so bad.

I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change

By Joe DiPietro

A musical revue celebrating the mating game! This crowd-pleasing comedy takes on the truths and myths behind that contemporary conundrum know as “the relationship.”

A tribute from Ken Ludwig to the great English farces of the 1930s and 1940s, A Fox On the Fairway takes audiences on a hilarious romp, which pulls the rug out from underneath the stuffy denizens of a private country club.
