A Message From a Board Member...
Hello fellow Theatre lovers! My name is Jennifer and I have been the Treasurer at the Pineapple Playhouse since 4/1/23. Before that I was introduced to the Pineapple through the children’s program. I love theatre, particularly musical theatre and it brings me such pleasure being involved in this little Community Theatre!
My goal is to work with the board to help this place grow and our audience expand. My Son Darian performed here as a child and now makes appearances in the adult shows. He also is one of the friendly faces you see when you visit the box office during shows. I am so proud of all we have accomplished and what lies ahead. I hope to see you at ‘The Mountaintop’ this month and at our next season.

Pineapple Pulse: Theatre Updates & Highlights
The theatre has a new roof! Thanks to everyone who donated toward this project. It was much needed. We are still fundraising for other renovations, including updating the bathrooms, painting, and more.
Jack Krantz has been associated with the Pineapple Playhouse for over 13 years. He first got involved when he was cast as Dr. Einstein In 'Arsenic and Old Lace' and as he says 'he found his second home'. He has appeared on stage in a number of productions but made his directorial debut with the play 'King of the Moon' by Tom Dutzik. “I just felt an attachment to the characters and the story, being set in my home town of Buffalo N.Y. I felt that I could bring some insight to the story.”
Jack tells us he enjoys being onstage and creating characters for the audience’s entertainment but directing offers him something more. “There is the collaboration with the actors that is exciting as well as the ability to shape the story as I see it in my own mind. To have a vision and see it come to life is exhilarating.” He also tells us he likes to choose shows that have an impact on the audience. Last season Jack tackled 'Alabama Story' which is based on a true story about book banning and prejudice. He felt it was a story that had to be told and felt blessed being chosen to tell it. Jack's latest endeavor is 'The Mountaintop' by Katori Hall. 'The Mountaintop' is a gripping reimagination of events the night before the assassination of the civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. On April 3, 1968, after delivering one of his most memorable speeches, an exhausted Dr. King retires to his room at the Lorraine Motel while a storm rages outside. When a mysterious stranger arrives with some surprising news, King is forced to confront his destiny and his legacy to his people. Come out to this must-see show and meet Jack.

They go undercover as a nun and priest, but their presence, combined with the addition of a new nun, spurs paranoia throughout the convent that spies have been sent from Rome to shut them down. Squabbles
aka Your House or Mine
by Marshall karp
Feb. 14 - March 2
This hilarious play pits a father in law against a mother in a comedic succession of squabbles. Jerry Sloan is a successful writer of advertising jingles married to an equally successful lawyer. Living with the happy couple is the not so happy Abe Dreyfus, Jerry's curmudgeon of a father in law. Abe is a funny guy to the audience, not to Jerry. The situation is exacerbated when Jerry's mother Mildred looses her house in a fire and needs a place to stay. Abe and Mildred can't stand each other. This play is one hilarious confrontation after another until the heart warming finale in which the oldsters discover that, really, each is not so bad.

"Pool's Paradise"
by Philip King
at the Pineapple Playhouse in 2000
Zany, madcap events transpire at the Reverend Lionel Toop’s vicarage in Merton-cum-Middlewick. The plot revolves around Lionel’s wife, Penelope, who dabbles in a football pool with the help of their maid, Ida, and Ida’s suitor, the droll Willie Briggs. The most fantastic complications ensue when the triumvirate wins, or when they think they have won, more than 20,000 English pounds. Lending richly comic hands are the old maid parishioner, Miss Skillon, and Penelope’s out-of-this-world uncle, The Bishop of Lax. What happens when these assorted characters all get together on one stage has to be seen to be believed.
