Behind the Prize: Jurying the Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize
A panel discussion with members of the 2018 MCHAP jury

In architectural award competitions, jurors' observations too often fall by the wayside once a winner is announced. In this program, jury members from the most recent Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize (MCHAP) will discuss their methodology, deliberations, and decisions. The award program was founded in Chicago six years ago by the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) College of Architecture to honor architectural excellence in the Americas.

Panelists include  Ricky Burdett, jury chair, professor of Urban Studies and director of the London School of Economics, Cities and the Urban Age Programme,  Jose Castillo, founding principal of Arquitectura 911sc in Mexico City and lecturer at the Harvard GSD,  Dirk Denison, Director of the Mies Crown Hall Architectural Prize, Professor of Architecture at IIT,  Claire Weisz, founding principal of WXY.

This event is co-sponsored with The Architectural League of New York. Tickets are free for Cooper Union Students, faculty, and staff with valid ID, and League members.
