Bounce builds community for chronically ill children and their families.
Greetings!

A Letter From The CEO

Friends,

It's that time of year again - time to pause to appreciate all that we have, and to enjoy the company of family and special friends. That may sound cliche, but to me it's very real because I am privileged to witness how Bounce attracts the incredible people and brings out their best every day.

I met a teenager last night who has battled chronic illness her entire life and was struck by how committed she is to giving back and doing for others.  Her passion is directly fueled by her own battle with pain, fear, uncertainty and not fitting in - and by the knowledge that despite her challenges, she still has much to be thankful for.   As she outlined her plan for launching a seven year volunteer project for Bounce, her last comment was, "I wish there had been a Bounce when I was little.  It would have really helped me and my family a lot!"

Thanks to each and every one of you, now there is.  Whether you donate time and talent, give of your treasure, or support and inspire your fellow Bounce members, we could not build community and change lives for the better without your monumental generosity!

My very best to each of you, our friends/donors/members/volunteers for a blessed Thanksgiving.  May you have as many reasons to be thankful as you've given to me!

Joan M. Steltmann

P.S.  For Bounce families 'thankful' takes on new meaning as well.  What many take for granted, school/work/holidays, saving/planning for special events, or grabbing a bite to eat without lugging bulky and 'stare-attracting' medical equipment is challenging at best for them.  Bounce provides opportunities to let go and simply enjoy bonding together in a loving and accepting community.  READ ON!

Bounce Bash(TM)  Halloween Hoopla
a Frightening Success
thanks to partner Jones Day!

Our Halloween Hoopla Bounce Bash™ was a blast!  With record turnout, everyone had a spooky good time thanks to partner, Jones Day.  Not only did Jones Day offer up their amazing office space with gorgeous views of Millennium Park and Lake Michigan, they decorated and volunteered at the event and even provided financial sponsorship for the party!!

Each of their five floors at 77 W. Wacker formed a team to transform one conference room into a special stop along our Trick-or-Treat hallway.  The kids (and parents) LOVED the decorations and collecting candy and treats.  Then it was on to the big conference room for lunch, compliments of Jones Day,  and arts & crafts.  Guests were also treated to fun games like:

  •    Pin the Bow Tie on the Skeleton
  •    Boo Bowling
  •    Ghost Darts
  •    Mummy Wrapping!

Thank you to all the families that dressed up and attended, and a very special thank you to Jones Day for making this event possible! It's an event Bounce families look forward to for the entire year and they were not disappointed!
