STEWARDSHIP
In August, pledge cards for the 2021 Parish Year were mailed to your homes. Please prayerfully consider the vital and valued ministries of our parish when completing and returning your pledge. If you need a card, please call the parish office.

As part of our ongoing Stewardship program, on Sunday, September 13th, Brenda Ridgeway, a member of the Vestry, offered her personal stewardship message focusing on The Now and Future Church.

New Fee Structure for ONLINE GIVING

Have you hesitated to make an online donation because the processing fees seemed too high? We now are able to designate a much lower processing fee ("Convenience Fee") for donations using Bank Account transfers to CHS vs. Credit/Debit Card charges on our online giving form.

While we are happy to accept your donation by any means, the processing fee charged to the church for donations from your Bank Account is significantly less than those using your Credit/Debit Cards. When donating online, you may choose to help cover the fee for processing your donation by leaving the "Convenience Fee" box checked. Should you choose to add the Convenience Fee to your donation, it will show up on your Giving Statement as a separate line and is tax deductible.

We are grateful to all who have turned to Online Giving for their donations to Holy Spirit. If you would like to make an online donation, click here or visit the Holy Spirit website and click on the green GIVE NOW button on any page.

If you have any questions, contact our Treasurer, Chris Crighton at rov1gh65 “at” gmail.com
WARDEN'S MESSAGE
We all miss being together in person at weekend services and Sunday Coffee Hour when we can catch up on CHS happenings or ask church leaders a question. Since worshiping together is still in the planning stage, as your Wardens, we will be hosting a Zoom Wardens Forum on Sunday, September 20th, immediately following the 10:00 am Zoom worship service. Come worship at 10:00 via Zoom, stay on after the service and feel free to ask your questions. Please put this on your calendar.

Additionally, Sunday September 27th The Rt. Rev. Alan M. Gates, Bishop of Massachusetts, will be joining us and preaching at our Sunday Morning Prayer Zoom service. Please make an effort to join us then as well.

RECENT DEATHS

Watch over thy children, O'Lord, as their days increase.
Bless and guide them wherever they may be
keeping them unspotted from the world.
Strengthen them when they stand;
comfort them when discouraged or sorrowful; raise them up if they fall;
And in their hearts, may thy peace, which passes all understanding,
Abide all the days of their lives;
Through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
HEALTH MINISTRY - Ann Pike-Paris

While we all anxiously await a Covid 19 vaccination to be available, we must also be vigilant about not contracting other flu or respiratory illnesses this winter. Please contact your health care provider to find out what is best for you and how you can get the flu shot.

For the upcoming flu season, flu vaccination will be very important to reduce flu because it can help reduce the overall impact of respiratory illnesses on the population and thus lessen the resulting burden on the healthcare system during the COVID-19 pandemic.

For more information and answers to your questions, please read this CDC link .
Stay safe and healthy.
LOCAL SCHOOLS RE-OPEN
SEPTEMBER 16TH
YES! THOSE BIG YELLOW VEHICLES
ARE SCHOOL BUSES WITH
CHILDREN ON BOARD.

Nauset Middle School and local elementary schools open this week. That means we will see the big yellow school buses again! Remember to slow down in school zones and stop for the buses. Hopefully Nauset Regional High School will solve its HVAC issues and those students will not need to continue remote learning for long and will be able to return to classrooms soon.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY CAPE COD AND
CHURCH OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
Chip Bechtold, Co-chair of CHS Outreach

The exciting announcement about CHS’ donation of $50,000 to Habitat for Humanity Cape Cod to build a home that will be dedicated to Nat Goddard and Gilbert Merritt is a wonderful idea which continues our tradition with Habitat and our community.

During the last interim before Father Adam arrived, our church sponsored its first Habitat home. It was on Gomes Way in Harwich, part of a 14-unit build. Due to the generosity of the parish, we raised $55,000 - an additional $5,000 contribution was for an international build. It was a challenging job which took many appeals for funding, many dinners in parishioners’ homes with Habitat homeowners as guests to explain their participation as well as ours and several concerts and other events, including selling our bird houses in the Parish Hall.

A BABY CENTER (ABC) NEEDS YOUR HELP

Thank you to those who brought donations for ABC to CHS. We are going to leave the collection barrel at the back door of the lower level through the end of September. So you still have time to drop off your donations.

ABC supplements critical basic needs that ensure the good health and safety of babies in need who live on Cape Cod and the Islands. These services are provided at no cost to clients and without regard for religious preference or lack thereof and they still need our help… NOW!
The center needs:
Summer/Fall pj's , Children’s Books, Small toys, Receiving blankets & toddler blankets, Wash cloths, Bibs, burp cloths, Lightweight sweatshirts or jackets,
Baby Bath, Baby Shampoo, Baby Lotion, Desitin or diaper rash cream, Pacifiers,

GALLEY WEST
Vernon Smith Mural Restoration
Cape Cod Picture Framing & Restoration provides one-stop shopping for art-minded customers, collectors including CHS since we hired them to do the restoration of the beautiful Vernon Smith mural in the Galley West.

Enjoy this article that appeared in the Cape Cod Times' September 13th edition about this family business here in Dennis. We know our mural is in the good hands of Ron Lindholm and daughter Tracey Nee (photo to left) .

Click here to read the CCT article.
Mural depicting whaling industry hanging on wall just as it was installed in 1933 when Richard and Florence Kimball lived in the Galley West. It was a gift to them from Vernon Smith who became a close friend and a founding member of CHS.
Mural was 6 separate panels painted on gypsum board and tacked to the wall of the galley.. This is the largest panel being moved out by the restoration company. Each will be restored, mounted to proper boards and then rehung when building renovations are completed and galley opens.
With mural removed, we discovered why the base of the large panel was bowing out. There was no wood behind the lower section supporting it, only exposed fireplace brick. (dark rectangle between doors)
Now we can safely start the building restoration and keep the mural safe!
REMINDER
Please do not tack or tape anything on the church doors or surrounding trim!
If you have something that needs to be placed on or near one of the doors, you must first get approval from Gail Smith+ and then, Wayne Currey will place it in an appropriate manner. Thank you for your cooperation and respect of our buildings.

FOOD 4 KIDS UPDATE

Food 4 Kids Celebrates a Successful Summer and
Looks Toward the Fall

What an incredible summer it has been for Food 4 Kids and our communities! Over 11 weeks this summer, we provided almost 54,000 meals to families, twice a "normal" summer. We cannot offer enough thanks to our partners, our staff and our volunteers who made it all possible. Their dedication has always been key to our success, but this summer placed unusual demands on them all and they came through for the children of the lower and outer Cape!
