14th Sunday of Ordinary Time (A) | July 5, 2020
When Christ says, "Take my yoke upon you... for my yoke is easy and my burden is light" (Mt 11:29-30), how do we hear those words? Even though most of us have never used a yoke, we know it's used by beasts of burden pulling plows or hauling heavy carts. Our lives are burdened enough, so we naturally don't want another burden (even if Jesus says it will be "light"). Many people shy away from the practice of religion because they perceive it as another burden; and that's understandable. But does Jesus' yoke really add to our burden? That's what I discuss in this week's reflection.

In Christ's Peace,

Campus Ministry this Fall
With the protocols campus is putting in place to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, what can students expect campus ministry to look like next semester? While there are a lot of details we are still working out, and everything is subject to change based on how the coronavirus continues to impact our community, we can confidently say two things:

  1. We are still and always will be committed to the spiritual well-being of our students.
  2. Things will be different.

Some highlights of what to expect:

  • A greater emphasis on small group ministry
  • A different venue for Sunday Mass to allow for greater social distancing
  • Opportunities to connect with our ministry both online and in person

Watch our video update for more information and stay tuned for further updates over the next month as we work out the details of what we expect to be a challenging, but very fruitful semester in ministry.
Welcoming New Students
Do you know someone who is starting at Western in the Fall, either as a freshman or transfer student? We've created a special page on our web site to introduce our ministry to new students, and invite them to introduce themselves to us. Please pass it along to any student or parent you know who needs to connect with us!

Parking Passes
Catholic Campus Ministry's parking lot is available for student and faculty parking during the fall and spring semesters. We are located within an easy walk from the center of campus and the money raised from parking permits goes directly to help fund our ministry.

We have parking passes available for $150 per semester (or $300 for the year) . Numbers are limited so don't delay. Download the registration form and mail it in with your payment today.
Online Small Groups
Our students are enjoying their on-line Bible study small groups so much they don't want to stop! We're happy to announce that they plan to continue to meet over the summer, and new students are invited to join in.

Thank you for your support!
