Share Your Story!

The BELIEVE surveys are designed to help us learn more about how pregnant people and health care team members experience the healthcare system. If you are a pregnant person, a new birthing parent, or a healthcare provider who works with pregnant people we would love to hear your stories!

This survey includes 17 multiple-choice questions and at least three long answer questions. You may respond by recording your voice or by typing your answer. All responses will be kept confidential.

If you finish the survey you will be given a $75 incentive as a thank you for your time and effort.

Student / Trainee Opportunities

Believe Scholarships

The BELIEVE project is providing scholarship opportunities to support students interested in entering the field of Maternal and Child Health (MCH). BELIEVE is offering (3) $1,000 scholarships.

Scholarships can be used towards tuition for the next school year or a certification course. The scholarship is open to high school seniors, and above who are applying to study in a health-related field.

Applicants must use funds towards school tuition or a certificate program with an interest in maternal health, Fall 2023 in North Carolina.

HBCU Convening

This convening is designed to facilitate a dialogue between HBCU’s, Community Partners, Advocates, and the Universities within the EQUATE network. This discussion will aid identifying synergy and opportunities for collaboration to improve Maternal Health.

ABOUT #BelieveBirth

BELIEVE is a part of the Health Equity Research Network (HERN), funded by the American Heart Association through the P3 EQUATE Network at the University of Alabama.

The ‘DREAM: Dismantling Structural Racism to Promote Equitable Maternal Health Outcomes‘ project is a partner in this work.

The American Heart Association is giving $20 million to start HERN. This network will help us learn more about why some women-especially Black women and Native American women, are more likely to have problems during childbirth and after. About half of these problems are related to the heart and blood vessels, so the American Heart Association is in a good position to help solve this important issue.

The goal of all this work is to make the healthcare system better so that every birthing person and healthcare worker is treated with respect and care.
