HIGHLIGHTS OF THE BELIZE-TAIWAN AGRICULTURE INVESTMENT MISSION
The Government of Belize (GOB), through the Ministry with responsibility for Investment, Trade and Commerce, along with the Belize Trade and Investment Development Service (BELTRAIDE), hosted the Belize Agriculture Investment Mission in partnership with the Republic of China (ROC) Taiwan on October 20 - 26, 2019. This mission followed the successful execution of the Belize Tourism Investment Mission held earlier in June 2019. The visiting delegation included executives visiting from both Taiwan and the Taiwanese Community in North America. This investment mission focused on Agriculture sought to provide insights into Belize's growing Agricultural Industry through tailored meetings, site visits and other engagements with key public and private sector stakeholders. The mission aimed at facilitating increased investments through joint ventures in existing projects as well as new Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) contributing to employment, foreign exchange and other benefits. 
BELIZE ATTENDS THE 5TH KOREA LAC BUSINESS SUMMIT



The 5th Korea-LAC Business Summit, which took place in Seoul Korea on October 7th-8th, 2019, is one of the world's largest international exchange events between the 26 IDB member countries and Korea. The objective of the forum, is to expand and strengthen commercial ties between Korea and the Latin American and Caribbean Countries, to provide a better understanding of investment and trade opportunities. 

INDONESIA - LATIN AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN  
 (INA - LATAMCAR)  BUSINESS FORUM

As part of its efforts to increase trade and investment linkages between Indonesia and Latin America and the Caribbean, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted its first Indonesia Latin America and the Caribbean (INA - LAC) Business Forum held in Tangerang, Indonesia, on October 14th - 15th, 2019. The event consisted of more than two-hundred representatives from both regions who convened to discuss salient issues, such as geographical distance, and recommendations affecting the level of trade and investment between Indonesia and the LAC region. Potential areas of trade and investment were also discussed via establishment of cooperation agreements and/or trade agreements and B2B meetings between participants. The event's agenda consisted of panel discussions, business matchmaking sessions and a site visit to a paper mill, SINAR MAS Group. 
BELIZE HOSTS CARICOM EXECUTIVES TO DISCUSS REGIONAL POLICIES FOR THE AGRICULTURE INDUSTRY

A two-day Regional Planners Forum on Agriculture was held in Belize from October 2-3, 2019 under the theme ' Capitalising on the New Frontier in Global Agriculture' .  The Forum included panel discussions on the region's Sugar Industry as it relates to trade, production and product development with sugar stakeholders from across the Caribbean Community.  The engagement placed regional policymakers from the sugar industry, manufacturers and government in dialogue on the Future of the Caribbean Sugar Industry. 

PROJECT OPPORTUNITY: CHIAL MOUNTAIN RESERVE

Project Summary
The Chial Mountain Reserve is located in the hills of the Cayo District on 62 acres in what is known as the high-end resort corridor. The Master Plan for the Project consists of 10 villas, each villa has its private plunge pools, amenities include a Restaurant, Resort Pool, Wellness Center, Spa, Operations Center, Adventure and Hiking Trails. Activities in the area include Jungle Exploration, Kayaking, Horseback Riding, Cave and Maya Temple Exploration and Ziplining. The development model is a combination of a "residential resort" concept offering homeowners an opportunity to become partners of the exclusive Chial Mountain Reserve Community providing attractive R.O.I. rates from the rental revenue model. Phase 1 of the development is fully funded having commenced construction in late 2017 expected to be completed by January 2020. The developers propose three (3) investment options: (1) a 20 - 100% purchase of equity stake in the project with income from the company revenue model, no sale of units and only revenue from overnight sales, (2) purchase of villas by volume at discounted rate with income from homeowner shares and (3) loan financing with interest income from collateralized loan of USD $3,500,000.
