Dear Bella Vista Families,
We’ve just completed six weeks of school! Next week marks “Start With Hello” Week where we highlight the traits of empathy and work to end social isolation by empowering students to start new relationships starting with “Hello!” Students are encouraged to do three things:
- See Someone Alone
- Reach Out and Help
- Start With Hello
On Friday, September 24th we will have our first Spirit Day brought to us by Bella Vista Student Leadership. The theme is Character Day and students can dress up as their favorite character from a book, movie, play, etc. They may also dress up as their favorite character trait! As always, all other Fridays at Bella Vista are Aloha Friday where we can show spirit wearing Bella Vista spirit wear, Hawaiian wear, or whatever makes us happy!
I would like to highlight safety, especially during drop-off and pick-up. Please read through and make sure you are following all of the traffic rules in and around Bella Vista to help keep everyone safe.
- Please take the time to drive slowly and safely through the neighborhood and through our parking lots. There have been several close calls.
- Cars turning into our parking lot and driveway may only do so by coming down Trumpet Vine from Trefoil and turning right into our driveway. There are two posted signs that indicate no left turns and SRPD have been active in our neighborhood recently.
- Please refrain from entering the parking lot from the exit. This causes a dangerous situation for cars exiting the parking lot and driveway.
- If you are walking with your child, please use all crosswalks. We have a crossing guard stationed at Trumpet Vine and Hibiscus and there is always a BV staff member tending the crossing guard in the parking lot.
- Walkers should stay on the sidewalk if they are coming in the north side of the school (near the parking lot entrance.)
- Walkers from the south side of the school should use the stairs that lead up to the Champions building near Hibiscus. Do not cut through the driveway as there are no sidewalks at that side of the driveway.
- Refrain from parking or stopping in front of neighbors’ homes along Trumpet Vine.
Don’t forget to register for the SRVEF Run for Education! This year’s run is a virtual event so you have the flexibility to participate at your convenience on the trails, treadmill, or track. This event is one of the biggest fundraisers by the San Ramon Valley Education Foundation which supports public education in the San Ramon Valley. Our school receives 30% of all registrations when you register and designate Bella Vista as your school. Please support our school at the same time as getting some family exercise. We are in need of parent volunteers to help out with our lunch supervision in the MPR and on the playground. Parent volunteers need to be cleared through Be A Mentor and will help under the guidance of our Noon Duty Supervisors. Volunteer hours are generally 11:30 - 1:00pm. The Run for Education is a 38 year tradition in the San Ramon Valley, and you don’t want to miss it! The run will be virtual this year, but we hope to bring back some of our traditional in-person activities on October 9 and 10, 2021, based on county guidelines.
The low registration price of $25 includes an SRVEF mask or cape! You can still order a shirt to keep your collection up to date, but orders need to be placed soon to guarantee delivery by September 1st!
This event will be a fundraiser for the San Ramon Valley Education Foundation and each school with 30% of registration net proceeds going directly to your school team chosen. Additionally, the Run for Education is setting up pledge pages for every participant that will allow schools to raise even more money with 70% of those donations going directly to the school.
We are excited about offering this fundraising opportunity to our schools! This is a healthy and fun family activity we can all enjoy while observing local guidelines AND raising funds to support our programs and people! Questions? Contact Karen Robman at [email protected].

‘Fun Friday’ - September 24: Hello Party!
Ed Fund will be hosting an outdoor "Hello Party" during school hours for all students: TK - 5th Grade. Held during ‘Start With Hello Week’, the party will have music, bubbles and games. A way to include all students, build school community and connectivity.

Ed Fund will be fundraising with its Halloween Raffle. Keep a lookout for more information!
November 04, 2021:
Outdoor Classroom Day (OCD) is November 04, 2021. Outdoor Classroom Day is a global movement to make time outdoors, a part of every child’s day. Inspire the students of BVES to have outdoor play and learning. Outdoor stations and activities focusing on everything 'OUTDOOR and NATURE' (weather permitting). More details to follow.
Translation Services:
The Bella Vista Ed Fund (BVEF) Board is diverse and offers translation services in English for all Ed Fund related services. This includes Registration, Future Fund, Corporate Match, Auction and Fundraising.
If you need assistance in a language other than English, please contact BVEF at [email protected] as we may have a language service that could be of assistance to you.

4th Annual Culture in the Community Celebration - Application Deadline Extended to September 17
The San Ramon Valley Council of PTAs is proud to co-sponsor the Annual Culture in the Community Celebration, Sunday, October 17, 2021, from 10am to 2pm at the San Ramon Community Center.
This event will be back in-person, all booths will be outdoors following safety protocols.
What is Culture in the Community?
San Ramon celebrates its rich diversity of cultures with food, crafts, booths, music, dance and more. Culture in the Community is a fun and free event to honor the diversity in San Ramon. Many countries and cultures will be represented to honor San Ramon's cultural pride in this exciting, community-driven event.

Hello Bella Vista families!
Start with HELLO week begins next week. Please encourage your children to meet, greet, and say “Hello” to each person who walks by them in Bella Vista! A greeting and smile can make someone’s day and goes a long way! There will be a "kindness tree" at Bella Vista where students in every class can write one or a few words of something kind on a sticky note that will be part of our kindness tree leaves and branches.
Next week Friday, on September 24th from 8am to 9am we will host Coffee with the Principal. This will be held by our school's main entry gate where students enter every morning. Please grab a cup of coffee or tea and join Mr. Maloney and meet other parents too!
Our Bella Vista PTA still has a few Committee Chair positions available. Please visit us at PTA Board/Committee Chair to see which positions are available. Our Bella Vista Elementary School PTA benefits many of our school programs, students, and children. We have immediate openings for our Run Club Chairperson and an Art Docent Chairperson. These two programs have been very important programs here at our school. A Note To Our Families...
Hello Trailblazers,
This week, I'd like to share a few reminders with you:

The 2021 Run for Education is NOW OPEN! Register at www.srvef.org/the-run. The registration process is very simple and easy. This is a healthy way of supporting your school, as a fraction of the donation will be given to Bella Vista Elementary.

The school registration is open and we are shy of reaching our annual donation goals by ~17k. A huge shout out to our school community for the donations! But if you have put the registration on the back burner, please complete registering your child soon. This can be done here.
- Corporate Match is another thing we usually set aside for a later time. I’d like to take this opportunity to remind the families to prioritize the same. It is a simple task to double your donations!
You donate. Your employer matches it. Double the funds!
Submitting your charitable donation for Corporate Matching with your employer, helps Bella Vista Ed Fund and your children. If you have any questions about how to get that set up, please refer to our corporate matching page or reach out to our BVEF Treasurer, Jessie Ang at ([email protected]).
