Dear Bella Vista Families,
Our teachers are busy preparing for next week’s conferences. During your child’s conference, teachers will share progress, successes, strengths, and areas for growth. As we head into conference week it is a good time to understand the importance of everyone partnering together to support our students. One of the obligations of a school that receives Title 1 support is to make sure that students, families, and school staff share the responsibility of coming together in partnership to support our students’ academic achievement. We do this with a School-Parent Compact that outlines the responsibilities that all stakeholders take to support and nurture the success of our students. At your child’s conference, the teacher will speak about this and ask you to sign the School-Parent Compact. You can get a head start on this by signing it electronically through this form. Thank you for your support!
Please don’t forget that we will be on a Minimum Day schedule during next week so that teachers can meet with families in the afternoons.
- TK: 9:30 - 12:00pm
- Kindergarten: 8:00 - 10:30am
- 1st - 5th Grades: 8:00 - 12:00pm
We are looking for parents to be part of our School Site Council. This year our focus will be on incorporating the district’s strategic directions and to help stakeholders understand and discuss this work to set our school goals and develop cycles of improvement. Please review the School Site Council section of our website for more information. If you are interested in being on School Site Council, please send an email to Mr. Maloney, [email protected] so you can be placed on the ballot. Members are voted into the School Site Council. Per our by-laws, School Site Council meets at least four times a year to learn about and provide input into our school’s plan for achievement.
Thank you very much to all of the lunchtime volunteers! We have greatly appreciated your dedication and support to help out at lunch and lunch recess. Here is the October sign-up. Please remember that volunteers must be cleared through Be A Mentor and will need to upload proof of vaccination or a recent (week old or less) negative COVID test.
Don’t forget to register for the SRVEF Run for Education! This year’s run is a virtual event so you have the flexibility to participate at your convenience on the trails, treadmill, or track. This event is one of the biggest fundraisers by the San Ramon Valley Education Foundation which supports public education in the San Ramon Valley. Our school receives 30% of all registrations when you register and designate Bella Vista as your school. Please consider supporting our school at the same time as getting some family exercise.
Keeping our school safe and healthy:
-
Daily Self-Assessment to check for any possible COVID symptoms.
-
Should your child have any symptoms, please stay home, and notify our school office by phone at 925-659-5899 or [email protected].
-
Pathways to Return to School following a COVID symptom.
- Thank you for your support in helping to keep your family and our community safe and healthy.
Take care and thank you very much for being a partner in your child’s education. Trailblazer strong!
Thank you!
Ryan Maloney

2020-2022 School of Excellence
|
|
Bella Vista was the recipient of a recent designation as a 2020-2022 School of Excellence. Our efforts have been featured in a post on the National PTA One Voice blog. Below is the post about our school.
BELLA VISTA PTA, CALIFORNIA
Bella Vista PTA in California showed they were School of Excellence material when they took the challenges of COVID-19 head on, promoting healthy lifestyles in their school community. Although the pandemic presented new challenges to Bella Vista PTA and their school community; they continued to ensure the health and safety of their students and promote healthy habits at home and at school.
The school adapted a virtual/hybrid model of learning, and the PTA used all of their communication channels to share tips and reminders on how to thrive, both physically and mentally, in the midst of so much upheaval. Bella Vista PTA also added a “Health and Wellness” section to their newsletter and leveraged their social media platforms and website to continue to communicate health and wellness tips.
Through the School of Excellence program, Bella Vista PTA took initiative by identifying the need to promote healthy lifestyles during a time that could have been far too sedentary for students. While remote learning, students were constantly sitting at their computers and not getting up and changing classrooms or going to recess like they did before the pandemic. The PTA raised awareness around health and wellness and brought their community together during a trying time, which is exactly what a School of Excellence does to lead the way to a successful future.

The Run for Education is a 38 year tradition in the San Ramon Valley, and you don’t want to miss it! The run will be virtual this year, but we hope to bring back some of our traditional in-person activities on October 9 and 10, 2021, based on county guidelines.
The low registration price of $25 includes an SRVEF mask or cape! You can still order a shirt to keep your collection up to date, but orders need to be placed soon to guarantee delivery by September 1st!
This event will be a fundraiser for the San Ramon Valley Education Foundation and each school with 30% of registration net proceeds going directly to your school team chosen. Additionally, the Run for Education is setting up pledge pages for every participant that will allow schools to raise even more money with 70% of those donations going directly to the school.
We are excited about offering this fundraising opportunity to our schools! This is a healthy and fun family activity we can all enjoy while observing local guidelines AND raising funds to support our programs and people! Questions? Contact Karen Robman at [email protected].

Great job and congratulations to our PTA that received this prestigious two-year, national recognition award and made this possible! The write up shared below under PTA Updates highlights our successes in the program and points to our PTA as an example to others across the nation on how to achieve the School of Excellence designation. Thank you to our Bella Vista PTA board members in 2020-2021 and our continuing board members that continue to uphold our achievements in 2021-2022.
Our PTA Reflections Program submission dates are open and will continue until October 14th. This year’s theme is “I Will Change the World By…”
From October 25th to 29th, we commemorate Red Ribbon Week and will celebrate Spirit Week. Each day, students are encouraged to dress to match a certain theme to show school unity and spirit. We will share specific theme details in the next two weeks.
On Wednesday, October 27th from 6 pm to 7 pm, our Bella Vista PTA is hosting our pumpkin carving. You must bring your own pumpkin and carving tools to the event. Our PTA will provide stickers, paint, pom poms, glitter, and other decorative items for your pumpkins. After our pumpkin carving and decorating event, we will display all of the decorated pumpkins in the courtyard until Friday afternoon when your child can take their pumpkin home in time for Halloween. We will hold our PTA Association meeting immediately after our event from 7:00 pm to 7:45 pm. We hope to see you there!
Our Bella Vista PTA still has a few open Committee Chair positions available. We ask you to join our Bella Vista PTA so that we can continue to hold events for our children and school.
