BELLE CHASSE, LA. - Inclement weather has interrupted the work on Engineers Road, and the planned detour will not be in effect today. This will also impact the schedule for tolling on the Belle Chasse Bridge, which had been slated to begin tonight at midnight. Depending on the weather, the project team is estimating the work on Engineers Road will be completed by Wednesday, May 14, with tolling commencement to follow. Updates will be shared as they become available.
The 2025 toll rates and vehicle class categories for the Belle Chasse Bridge are listed below and are available at www.bellechassebridge.com/tolling.
The community is encouraged to create an account with GeauxPass, Louisiana’s state-wide interoperable tolling system. Each vehicle requires its own free GeauxPass transponder sticker. GeauxPass provides for ease of traffic flow over the bridge and a reduced toll rate in every category. Drivers without a GeauxPass will receive a toll invoice mailed to the address connected to their vehicle registration.
A GeauxPass account can be created by visiting www.geauxpass.com or using the GeauxPass mobile app, with GeauxPass transponder stickers sent in the mail.
Plaquemines Parish residents qualify for a reduced resident toll rate if they use a GeauxPass, operate a Class 1 vehicle and establish proof of residency by providing a driver's license and vehicle registration with both displaying a Plaquemines Parish address. Instructions for submitting these documents when registering online can be found at www.bellechassebridge.com/tolling.
Individuals opening a new GeauxPass account must prefund it with $30.
