BELLE CHASSE, LA, FEBRUARY 5, 2021 - The northern portion of South Tunnel Road, parallel to the levee, and between the South Tunnel Road levee gates and the entrance to Toast Events (previously Bayou Barriere Golf Club) will be closed beginning at 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Monday, February 8 – Wednesday, February 10, 2021.
The closure is necessary to allow delivery and assembly of a construction crane as part of the new Belle Chasse Bridge.
Local residents and businesses will not lose access to their homes and businesses. Authorized personnel will also retain access to the area.

East side of South Tunnel Road to get to LA 23: Take a U-Turn heading south on South Tunnel Road, turn right onto LA 23 heading north, proceed to your original destination. First U-turn opportunity to access LA 23 SB is just north of the existing bridge.
West side of South Tunnel Road: Take a U-Turn heading south on South Tunnel Road, turn right onto Q Street and then left onto Covert St. Then, turn left onto Barriere Road and turn left onto LA 23 NB or turn right onto LA 23 SB.
The northern portion of South Tunnel Road will be permanently closed during the week of February 15. This closure is required as part of the new bridge will be built through South Tunnel Road.
