BELLE CHASSE, LA, FEBRUARY 24, 2021 - The southbound lanes of LA 23 through the Belle Chasse Tunnel will be closed starting on Friday, February 26, 2021 from 7 p.m. until Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 5 a.m. for tunnel cleaning. Afterwards, the tunnel will undergo its biennial inspection and close again on Saturday, February 27, 2021 and Sunday, February 28, 2021 from 6:30a.m. until 5:30p.m.

The closure is necessary to allow crews to clean and inspect the tunnel. All work is weather permitting.

As an alternate route, motorists can take the Judge Perez Bridge (LA 23) in either direction.
