BHSの皆さん、こんにちは！
４月は引き続きNational Poetry Month（全米詩月間）とArab American Heritage Month（アラブ系アメリカ人文化遺産月間）です。図書館では、４月を通して楽しめる展示コーナーを用意していますので、ぜひご覧ください。ヴァースノベル（韻文小説）もいろいろそろっています。週末に楽しめる新しい本を見つけに来てくださいね！
4月18日（土）午前11時―午後3時はBellevue Botanical Gardenの毎年恒例の EarthFest がアースデイ（地球の日）に合わせて開催されます。無料でファミリーフレンドリーなイベントです。植物の販売も行われます。
４月19-25日は National Library Weekです！図書館にいる私に会いに来て図書館愛を表現するとか、地元の公共図書館 に行くとかいいですね！何か賞品んが欲しいという場合は皆さんの図書館愛をオリジナル作品という形で表現して、ここにHERE4月25日までに提出しましょう。$150の商品券が当たるかもしれません！
2026年４月20日（月）は Right to Read Day（読む権利の日）です。これは禁書活動が高まり読む自由がおびやかされる現況をより認識してもらうためのキャンペーン活動です。Unite Against Book Bans と American Library Association から学んで、この活動を支援してください。
National Poetry Month （全米詩月間）をお祝いしてmagnetic poetry tiles （詩の言葉の磁石）を使って詩を作りませんか？図書館のホワイトボードにありますよ！

If Life Is As Short As Our Ancestors Insist It It, Why Isn't Everything I Want Already At My Feet

if I make it to heaven, I will ask for all of the small pleasures
I could have had on earth. And I'm sure this will upset
the divine order. I am a simple man. I want, mostly,
a year that will not kill me when it is over.
A hot stove and a wooden porch, bent under
the weight of my people. I was born, and it only got worse
from there. In the dead chill of a doctor's office,
I am told what to cut back on and what to add more of.
None of this sounds like living. I sit in a running
car under a bath of orange light and eat the fried chicken
that I promised my love I would stray from
for the sake of my heart and its blood
labor. Still, there is something about the way a grease
stain begins small and then tiptoes its way along
the fabric of my pants. Here, finally, a country
worth living in. One that falls thick from whatever
it is we love so much that we can't stop letting it kill
us. If we must die, let it be inside here. If we must.
