SUPPORT THE BHS PTSA

AND MAKE AN IMPACT!

Our Make An Impact campaign is now in its 3rd week, and we are deeply grateful for the

incredible support from our Bellevue High School families who have contributed to this year’s

fundraiser in the past week (October 9-15):

Your generosity fuels the programs, enrichment, and support that make our school so amazing. We are currently at 25% of our $85,000 goal, and we are excited to keep the momentum going!

We are aiming for participation from as many families in our community as possible to hit $85,000! All donations - large and small - will help us to reach our goal!

Please click here to donate!

Employer Matching

If your employer offers donation matching, please take a moment to submit a match request to them and double your donation. Here’s a list of many companies that match: https://arlgp.org/content/uploads/2025/02/2025-matching-gift-programs-updated.pdf

Bellevue High PTSA’s tax id number is 91-1459440. Bellevue High School PTSA is a non-profit IRC Sec. 501(c)(3) charitable organization. We accept donations from individuals and corporations, and these donations are tax-deductible.

If you donate through a company giving portal, please email fundraising@bellevuehighptsa.com with your donation receipt so we can add your name to the Donor Honor Roll.

Thank you very much for your support!

PTSA MESSAGES

Dear BHS PTSA Members and Families,

Happy October from the BHS PTSA Board! We’ve made it through the first month of the 2026–2027 school year. September was busy, and October promises more opportunities to connect. Thank you for your support!

Important Update to General Membership Meetings

Our meetings will now be held from 6:30–8:30 p.m. in the BHS Library. Dr. Anderson will join us for a principal’s update on the agenda. Please mark your calendars:

The April meeting is on Tuesday, rather than Wednesday. We’re sharing these dates early so you can plan ahead. Reminders will follow closer to each meeting.

Questions and Your Voting Voice

We’ll send a survey for questions before each meeting. To respect everyone’s time and the agenda, some questions may need follow-up by email or in person. Contact us at presidents@bellevuehighptsa.com.

You must be a current BHS PTSA member to vote. Members help approve the budget, elect leadership, and shape priorities supporting students, families, and staff. Please join or renew for 2026–2027—your voice matters!

HALLOFEED: FOOD DRIVE

Hello BSD! This year, at Bellevue HS and Sammamish HS, we are doing a Halloween-themed food drive for Hopelink to ensure an autumn full of food for those in our community that need it most.

How it works: In your school, there will be a permanent box from October 26th to October 30th, where you can donate non-perishable foods. There will also be smaller boxes to pick up, which you can take on Halloween as you go trick-or-treating. Instead of asking for candy, ask for non-perishable goods! There’s a list of items in the flyer

And when you’ve collected food, you can drop it off on Monday, November 2nd, right where you got the box. We will then drive it over to Hopelink. Easy peasy!

This way, you can still have fun trick-or-treating while doing something nice for the community.

In addition, for the students, you may even be able to earn volunteer hours for participating! Feel free to ask Ms. Nelson (email below) if she can verify the time you spend gathering food while trick-or-treating.

If you have any questions, contact any of the following: nelsonl@bsd405.org, s-taylorju@bsd405.org,s-nelsonpi@bsd405.org

LIBRARY UPDATES

Hey Bellevue,

If you came to the library with your English class in September, you may be getting automatic overdue notices emailed to you and your guardian. Don't panic! These notices are meant as a reminder and are sent by the system automatically after a three-week loan (not counting weekends). If you are still reading your book and you need more time to finish it, please just reply to that email and request a renewal and I'll give you three more weeks, which should get you past the end of the quarter.

It's book prize season, and the Kirkus Prize was just announced, featuring a win in the Teen category for the newest from one of my faves, Elizabeth Acevedo. We don't (yet!) have this book, but we have many of her previous books, including the very decorated, multi-award winning, The Poet X. Come read the backlist!

Volunteer opportunity: Enatai Elementary is looking for volunteers to help set up, clean up, and run various activities at their annual Fall Festival on Friday, October 23rd. Sign up for open slots HERE.

Come to the library during your lunch period on Friday, October 23rd and say hey to the new Teen Services Librarian from KCLS Bellevue Branch, Cassidy Miller. Cassidy will be at BHS to help you sign up for an all-access library card and will have information about other events and services on offer at KCLS. Stop by!

FIRST SENTENCE FRIDAY

"I felt like I was trapped in one of those terrifying nightmares, the one where you have to run, run till your lungs burst, but you can't make your body move fast enough." — from New Moon by Stephenie Meyer.

As always, if you have any questions, want to find a book, have suggestions, or just want to talk about what you're reading, come see me in the library or send me an email or Teams Chat!
