Dear BHS PTSA Members and Families,
Happy October from the BHS PTSA Board! We’ve made it through the first month of the 2026–2027 school year. September was busy, and October promises more opportunities to connect. Thank you for your support!
Important Update to General Membership Meetings
Our meetings will now be held from 6:30–8:30 p.m. in the BHS Library. Dr. Anderson will join us for a principal’s update on the agenda. Please mark your calendars:
| | |
The April meeting is on Tuesday, rather than Wednesday. We’re sharing these dates early so you can plan ahead. Reminders will follow closer to each meeting.
Questions and Your Voting Voice
We’ll send a survey for questions before each meeting. To respect everyone’s time and the agenda, some questions may need follow-up by email or in person. Contact us at presidents@bellevuehighptsa.com.
You must be a current BHS PTSA member to vote. Members help approve the budget, elect leadership, and shape priorities supporting students, families, and staff. Please join or renew for 2026–2027—your voice matters!

Happy Homecoming, Bellevue!
For Super Wednesday at BHS, the library will be entirely closed for testing on Wednesday, October 7th.
It's still Latine Heritage Month until October 15th — I've got books on display in the front of the library AND you can celebrate with events and booklists at KCLS.
I've also made a new display to help you pick out something to read for Spooky Season!
Banned Books Week is October 4-10! This year's theme is Let Books Be! There are lots of ways you can learn about censorship and take action — Let Freedom Read Day is Saturday, October 10th. Check out Washington Center for the Book's Washington Reads Freely for local opportunities to share what reading freely means to you!
The 2026 Spencer G. Shaw Lecture, sponsored by (my alma mater, UW iSchool), will be an author talk and book signing with Christina Soontornvat, author of the award-winning nonfiction book All Thirteen, as well as multiple YA and middle grade novels such as The Last Mapmaker and A Wish in the Dark. The event will take place in person at UW HUB, October 8th, 7:30-9:30pm, with virtual options. More info and registration HERE.
FIRST SENTENCE FRIDAY

As always, if you have any questions, want to find a book, have suggestions, or just want to talk about what you're reading, come see me in the library or send me an email or Teams Chat!
