Library Resource

of the Month

A to Z Business Databases

The Bellingham Public Library has been awarded a federal grant to help local businesses and entrepreneurs by providing programs and services to the Bellingham area business community. This grant award has enabled the library to purchase a business resource called A to Z Databases. All you need for access is your Bellingham Library card!

A to Z Databases is ideal for:

·        Small Businesses – Find sales leads and mailing lists to grow their business

·        Entrepreneurs – Find similar businesses along with competitors

·        Students – Research businesses by industry or segment and company size

·        Government Agencies – Employment statistics, mapping, and traffic modeling

·        People Searching – Locate friends and relatives

·        Job Seekers – Job search and resume templates

·        Fundraising – Find income and home values in any neighborhood

This is a reference, research, marketing, mailing lists/sales leads, and job-search database. It includes 30 million business & executive profiles, executives email addresses, over 240 million residents with interests, hobbies and lifestyles information, over 7 million real-time job listings, 2 million new businesses, over 12 million healthcare professionals, over 12 million new movers, 2 million new homeowners, and much more. 350,000 new movers and new homeowners are added weekly.

A to Z users can email, download, and print. Users can easily email data among co-workers, family or friends. Up to 1,000 records internally and externally can be exported. Printing a quick, one-page profile in PDF format results in cost efficiency and the use of less paper. Users also have a place to make notes at the bottom of the detailed page.

The A to Z Databases can be accessed either in the library or remotely. Go to the Bellingham Library’s website at www.bellinghamlibrary.org and click on the Business Resources tab. Click the Research and Resources box and then the A to Z Databases link. You will be asked to put in your library card number for access.

The grant that has made the purchase of this resource possible is from the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Library Services and Technology Act. The grant is administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
