The Beloit City Council will hold a workshop on Monday, November 27, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. in the City Hall Forum, 100 State Street. The purpose of this workshop is to review and discuss ARPA grant funding to support youth programs and services.

Public Involvement Meeting - November 28
The Beloit City Council has been invited to attend the Public Involvement Meeting on a new Multi-use path along Lee Lane.
This event is being held at Fruzen Intermediate School Cafeteria, 2600 Milwaukee Road, from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. The meeting will begin with a short presentation followed by an open house with exhibits and maps available for review. Representatives from Jewell Associates Engineers, Inc. and the City of Beloit will be on hand to answer questions throughout the meeting.

Holiday Service Impacts
The City of Beloit reminds residents about the following service impacts due to the Thanksgiving holiday next week:

Offices Closed: City Hall and all other city offices are closed Thursday, Nov. 23, and Friday, Nov. 24. Police and fire are always available by calling 911 for emergencies or 608-755-2244 for non-emergencies. Call 608-364-2888 for any Water Resources-related emergencies; Public Works can be contacted at 608-364-2929 for any other Public Works-related emergencies.

Solid Waste Collection: Garbage and recycling collection will be delayed by one day for those who have Thursday solid waste collection. Pickup will be on Friday, Nov. 24.

Recycling Drop-Off Center: The Recycling Drop-Off Center is closed on Saturday, Nov. 25.

Beloit Public Library: The library will close early at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, for the holiday. It will be closed on Thanksgiving and reopen on Friday, Nov. 24.

Beloit Transit: Beloit Transit will not operate on Thanksgiving. It will operate a holiday schedule on Friday, Nov. 24.

Grand Lighted Holiday Parade
The 31st annual Downtown Beloit Grand Lighted Holiday Parade is scheduled for Friday, November 24, 2023.
- 5:00 p.m. - Live music at First National Bank Plaza
- 6:00 p.m. - Santa arrives and tree lighting begins at the Plaza
- 6:15 p.m. - Lighted parade begins along Grand Ave. (3rd St. to Horace White Park)
- 7:00 p.m. - Santa visits Walnut Creek Awards, 400 E. Grand Ave., Suite 101 for photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus
- Fireworks will launch from ABC Supply Stadium immediately following the end of the parade

Donate Food to Pay Off Library Fines
From now through November 30, Beloit Public Library patrons will receive $1 credit toward their fines for each food item donated - up to a maximum of $9 per day. Donations must be unexpired, undamaged, unopened, and nonperishable.
The Library will pass along all donations to Beloit Caritas Community Resource Center, which has provided food and clothing to neighbors in need for more than 40 years.
The credit only applies toward late fines. Fees for lost or damaged items are not included in this promotion. For more information, stop in the library at 605 Eclipse or call (608) 364-2905.

Letters to Santa
Send your letters to Santa this holiday season, from November 24 - December 8th, and he will write back!
Santa's mailboxes will be located at:
- Corner of State Street and Grand Ave.
- Beloit Public Library, 605 Eclipse Blvd.
- Edwards Ice Arena, 2101 Cranston Road
All letters to Santa must contain a self-addressed envelope for Santa to write back.

Beloit Transit Joining WisGo
Beloit Transit will launch WisGo in spring 2024, an account-based fare payment system powered by Umo Mobility (a division of the Cubic Corporation). Riders will have a unified way to pay fare, plan a trip and track transportation options. Once the system is in place, riders will still have the option to pay in cash; the advantage to using the Umo mobile app will include automatic deduction for correct fare amount, trip planning and recording, bus history usage, and ease of paying a fare.
