Beloit's Housing Resources Fair Connects 60 Neighbors to Help

Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Beloit Public Library for last week’s Housing Resources Fair. Put together by the Equal Opportunities Commission, 60 attendees spent their evening learning about homeownership and renter assistance options in Beloit.

Beloit Dirty Dash: Mud, Nature, and a Community Family Run

Get ready to splash, run, and build memories at Big Hill Park for the Beloit Dirty Dash on Saturday, August 15, 2026. Open to kids ages 4–17 (plus a family run). T-shirts are guaranteed only for registrations completed by July 31.

National Night Out Brings Splash Party, Block Parties to Beloit

Join neighbors across the city for a fun, family-friendly National Night Out celebration on Tuesday, August 4, with block parties citywide and a new splash kickoff event at Vernon Park. Featured activities include:

• Cone with a Cop (while supplies last)
• Dunk Tank
• Foam Party
• Splash Pad

Beloit Fire Rescue Kitten from the Drain

A kitten was trapped in a drain for at least three days last week. Thanks to the help of residents and the Beloit Fire Department, the kitten was rescued and reunited with its mama.

City of Beloit Lead & Copper Testing—Sign Up for New Participants

The City of Beloit is expanding its annual lead and copper testing program for eligible properties under EPA and Wisconsin DNR requirements. Priority is given to homes with known lead water lines.

Chainsaw Training in Oakwood Cemetery

The Department of Public Works staff received chainsaw training last week, using a fallen tree in Oakwood Cemetery as a hands-on opportunity.

In-person absentee voting underway for August Election

Beloit voters can find polling places, absentee voting dates, and key election information ahead of the Tuesday, August 11 election.

Neighborhood Clean-Up Days in Merrill & Hackett


Community Action, in partnership with the City of Beloit, is hosting two no-cost Clean-Up Days to help residents reduce illegal dumping and build neighborhood pride. Join in Merrill on Saturday, August 8 (Regina Dunkin Park) and Hackett on Saturday, August 15 (Beloit Historical Society).
