Advocacy

Send “Save Ohio Parks” a message or your revision to urge Gov. De Wine to again veto dangerous legislation. SB 219 would allow drilling inside Ohio's parks for the first time. It would strip ODNR of its ability to regulate injection wells and orphan wells, and it would prevent the state from fining companies that cause spills or break the rules.

Advocacy

Tell Congress to End Family Detention. Help reinforce the efforts of descendants of Japanese Americans and allies on their four day walk this week from the site of a WWII internment camp in Texas to the Dilley Family Detention Center. Send a prepared message or your revision at Child Defense and learn more at abc27.

Advocacy

Thank Governor DeWine for Vetoing the Voter Suppression Bill HB 472 which would have made voting by mail much more difficult.  Contact him here. And thanks to all who called and emailed him about this!

Advocacy

Many Ohio Assembly Bills to Oppose or Support: click on “Go to the Statehouse Legislation Tracker” at Ohio Against Extremism.

Invitation from the Montgomery County Jail Coalition

Next Tuesday, June 30 at 12p, the Montgomery County Jail Coalition will host a virtual event to explore how an online dashboard could improve jail operations, increase transparency, and build public trust. The costly renovations currently underway at the jail are intended to modernize the facility and improve the safety and well-being of detainees and staff. In order for us to know that, track that, and adequately protect the investment we're making in the jail, it is crucial to build-out the necessary data infrastructure as well.

We will host officials from Polk County, IA (Des Moines); Hennepin County, MN (Minneapolis); and Harris County, TX (Houston)--all jurisdictions with jail dashboards. By learning from experiences and best practices, we can develop a proposal that works in our county.

The Jail Coalition has been researching transparency mechanisms since our campaign for civilian oversight in Summer 2025, which delivered a petition with 2000 signatures but no action from County officials. This is an issue of significant concern for voters and taxpayers and our hope is that a dashboard -- coupled with quarterly town hall events where the sheriff can engage with the public -- can be a tangible and effective outcome. We have been invited to formally present the proposal to a working session of the Board of County Commission on July 7.

We hope you can join us for next week's virtual event! RSVP here. Reach out with any questions.
