Caswell Street Fire
On December 24, 2022, Belvidere Fire was dispatched for a house fire with flames showing on the second floor. First arriving crews found a two-story residence with light smoke on the first floor and all occupants were accounted for in the front yard. Crews quickly advanced to the second floor finding heavy smoke and fire in a bedroom. The fire was under control in about ten minutes and no civilian or firefighter injuries were reported. Fire damage was contained to the upstairs bedroom, but the home had extensive smoke damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation and unfortunately the home had to remain unoccupied for the night. Damages are estimated at $50,000 with the value of the home about $200,000. Approximately 30 Fire/EMS personnel from Belvidere, Boone County, Cherry Valley, and LifeLine assisted with the fire.
