Citizen Police Academy

The Belvidere Police Department is taking applicants for the Citizen Police Academy. This program begins April 5th and will continue every Wednesday through June 7th. This 10 week academy is free to the public.

Committee of the Whole Meeting

Police Chief Shane Woody presented a Life Saving Award to Officer Anthony Jones and Valor Awards to Officer Ethan Berillo and Sgt. Paul Derry for their skillful and courgeous actions on July 12, 2022, when they rescued a female struggling to stay above water in the Kishwaukee River.

Branch Pick Up Continues

Due to the February 22, 2023, ice storm Public Works has been out picking up branches this week. If you have branches and they have not been picked up please contact Public Works at 815-544-9256.

Cross-Connection Control Survey

City of Belvidere residents/businesses who pay a City Water Bill are required to complete the Cross-Connection Control Survey by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. The City is required to get 100% participation.

Surveys will also be mailed to each resident/ business that are connected to the public water supply. If you choose to not participate online, please return completed survey to 401 Whitney Blvd., Suite 200, Belvidere, IL 61008. You may include the completed survey with your water bill payment or fax it to (815) 544-4255 within 30 days.

What is Cross-Connection? Cross-Connection is an unprotected or improper connection to the public water system that may cause contamination or pollution to enter the system. The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) are responsible for enforcing Cross-Connection regulations. Please be assured this is not necessarily an indication of any problems, but is required by the IEPA.
