Non-Emergency City Offices will be closed May 29, 2023

Non-Emergency City Offices will be closed Monday, May 29 in observance of Memorial Day. City Offices will reopen on Tuesday, May 30, 2023.
Memorial Day Ceremony

The Memorial Day Program will take place Monday, May 29th in the parking lot at the VFW, 1310 West Lincoln Ave. at 10:00a.m. In Case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held inside the VFW.
Do I Need a Building Permit?

Before starting any home projects this summer such as installing a fence, swimming pool or adding on a porch, please call the Belvidere Building Department at (815)547-7177 to inquire about a building permit. In Belvidere we handle all Building Permits right at City Hall. You may make an appointment to obtain a pertmit by calling (815) 547-7177 or applications are easily obtained on our website under Community Development. The Building Department is open Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Fire Department Swearing-In

Monday, May 22nd the Belvidere Fire Department had a swearing-in and pinning ceremony for new firefighter recruit Jason Jankowski.

Congratulations to Jason and welcome to the Belvidere Fire Department.
Tornado Response Recognitions

Police Chief Woody presented Valor awards to Officer Danielak, Officer McDermott, Officer Weiland, Officer Reese, Officer Ellingson, Officer Garcia and Officer Rackley for their response to the tornado on March 31, 2023.
 
Fire Chief Schadle presented Medal of Valor to Lt. Tangye, Firefighter Loudenbeck, Firefighter Pavlatos, Firefighter Trujillo and Firefighter Heiser for their response to the tornado on March 31, 2023.
 
Fire Chief Schadle presented Meritorious Conduct Awards to Lt. Drall, Firefighter Beck, Firefighter Kriebs, Firefighter Ellwanger, Firefighter Heiser and Firefighter Thornton for their response to the tornado on March 31, 2023.
 
Fire Chief Schadle presented Life Saving Awards to Mercy MD1 Matthew Smetana and Lifeline Elite Paramedic Lauren Schultz for their response to the tornado on March 31, 2023.

Belvidere Heritage Days in underway! This years Heritage Days will be on June 23-24 with a rain date of June 25. As events are finalized, we will begin to post information here, on our Heritage Days Facebook page and on the City's website.
