What's for Lunch?

Dear Ben Franklin Families,

Hope this message finds you well.

Parent Pick Up at the End of Day- IMPORTANT:

As we move into the second month of school, we want to thank you for your continued support in helping us keep dismissal safe and efficient for all students. After reviewing our processes and reflecting on safety measures, we determined a need for added protocols.

Beginning Wednesday, October 9th, all families will be required to use the school-provided gold car pick-up form. This form must be clearly displayed in the front window of your vehicle during dismissal.

Because some students have multiple authorized pick-up adults, this form helps staff quickly identify the correct vehicle and ensure your child is released safely. If the gold form is not visible, staff will ask the driver to present a photo ID and will confirm authorization with the office before releasing the student.

We understand this may add an extra step, but these procedures are in place to protect all children. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated as we work together to maintain a safe dismissal process.

Thank you for your attention to this important safety measure. If you need a replacement gold form, please contact Jessica Fleischmann in the front via e-mail: fleijes@sdmfschools.org

Second Grade Families - Next week Wednesday we will be sending home your child's MAP scores. These scores are from a nationally normed assessment in the areas of Reading and Math. More information will be provided with the scores.

Reminder that our Picture Retake day is this Tuesday (10/7).

THANK YOU!

Kind Regards,

Justin Goffard

Principal

A Piece of the PIE

😓 It's been pretty warm outside recently (tbh, we're eagerly waiting for sweater weather), but we at PIE are sweating not because of the temps. We are putting in some work these first weeks of school. Let us update you on all the fun:

📚 Today is the final day of the Ben Franklin Read-A-Thon! Thank you to all the Ben Franklin students and families who have participated and supported this fundraiser. There’s still time to get in any last-minute donations before we close things out. Final results will be shared on Monday!

🏃 The Riverside Fun Run & Health Fair is just around the corner. Thanks to all the Riverside students and families who have helped raise money so far. We're so excited for the event, which runs throughout the day on Thursday, Oct. 9. We still have a few volunteer slots left to fill, so take a look if you are able to help out that day!

🎃 Our annual Trunk-or-Treat event is back for another year of spooky fun. Get some more mileage out of those costumes and enjoy a fun night of candy and music from 6-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16 at the Ben Franklin Elementary playground. And if you'd like to decorate a trunk and pass out candy, please fill out our registration form.

🍨 Our October restaurant night is at The Chocolate Factory! It will run from 4-9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23. Sounds like a perfect excuse for a sub sandwich, some ice cream, or maybe both.

🍎 Our next PIE meeting is at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at the Riverside Elementary cafeteria. See you there!

Want to help at Ben Franklin?

There are many opportunities to help out at school. Whether helping in the classroom, at PTO events or chaperoning a field trip, we'd love your help.

To ensure that all adults who come in contact with your children are safe to do so, we run background checks on all volunteers. You can apply today to be a volunteer at the link below. Please note that it does take 48-96 hours for the process, so if you want to volunteer, apply early.
