Dear Ben Franklin Families,

I hope this message finds you well. This coming week we will be finishing up our State Literacy Testing for grades K-2.

Additionally, second grade will have their MAPS Reading and Math assessments next week. The results of those assessments will come home shortly after we finish assessing the entire grade. This is an opportunity to see how your student is doing compared to grade level norms across the nation. We will have this assessment again in the winter, and near the end of the year, so we all can see how our students are growing in these areas and how we can better support their learning.

A Piece of the PIE

📖 ❤️ We love kicking off the year with a good book sale. Our Scholastic Book Fair at Riverside generated nearly $5,100 in Scholastic Dollars revenue, which is used to go directly back to our schools. The money will be used to help fill the book vending machine and purchase supplies for individual classrooms.

📚 Coming Soon: The Ben Franklin Read-a-thon! Our Read-a-thon kicks off NEXT WEEK, and runs Sept. 22–October 3. Look for your child’s Bingo sheet coming home on Monday, and watch for registration and fundraising details shared Monday on ClassDojo and Facebook!

✏️ Take note, folks. Our upcoming events include our monthly meeting on Oct. 8 at Riverside; the Riverside Fun Run & Health Fair on Oct. 9 (more info on that soon); and Trunk or Treat on Oct. 16. It's gonna be a spooky fun October 🎃

There are many opportunities to help out at school. Whether helping in the classroom, at PTO events or chaperoning a field trip, we'd love your help.
