Ben's Buzz

The PCO has arranged this year's Photo Day to take place on October 24th. Order forms will be sent home early the week of October 16th. You can view the photo day schedule here

A friendly reminder that BFCCPS does not open daily until 7:30 am.   Students can not be dropped off before that time as there is no supervision available before 7:30 am.

Students in Grades 3-5 are invited to join Mrs. Urkevic for the 
first Science Club in the 2017-2018 school year. Sessions will meet seven Wednesdays or seven Thursdays. Class sizes are limited and registration is first come, first serve.  

Students in Grades 6-8 are invited to audition for the Middle School Musical!  

There are opportunities to perform on stage or to join the stage crew. Students also have the chance to audition for a new position, the  Director's Assistant.

The  Franklin Community Gardens is looking for student volunteers from Grades 6-8 to help re-build the garden beds. 

The event will take place  Sunday, October 15th   from 9:00 AM  to finish - (the job is expected to take most of the day as we have about 50 beds to build) Students should a rrive just before  9:00 AM  if possible.

Grade Seven will be selling frozen pies from Lyman Orchards to help raise money for the annual Quebec Trip. If you'd like to place an order you can contact any Seventh Grade parent or you can download an order form here. Orders will be accepted through October 24th, and all orders must be picked up in person on November 16th between 12:30 and 3:30pm. 

The popular  Grade Seven Epilepsy Clothing Fundraiser will be held October 23 through October 27th.  It's time to clean out your closets, go through your drawers, replace those curtains and worn out towels   and DONATE IT ALL! We encourage you to collect bags from your family, friends and neighbors so that we can meet our minimum of 2,300 lbs of donated items (the equivalent of 150 donated kitchen sized bags)!  

The proceeds will help offset the cost of the Quebec trip for our Seventh Grade family.  Thank you in advance for your support! 

Capstone Corner:
Students in Grade 8 are hard at work on their Capstone Projects and will have announcements, fundraisers and events to share over the coming weeks. Prem P. would like to thank you all for supporting his talent show night! It was a HUGE SUCCESS! For my second part of his capstone project, he has created a music theory club where he will teach kids from grades K-8 how to read and write music. This club is FREE for all students participating. This will be a fun club where we will all learn music together. Details regarding location, time, and dates are in this form.

Movie Night for  Raimi P.'s  Capstone Project, please join her for a showing of Smurfs: The Lost Village. The event will be held on October 13th from 6 - 7:45 pm.

Grade 8 student AJ is holding a Shoe Drive to benefit Hope for Haiti. Please donate your gently worn, used and new shoes from October 16th through November 17th.

Diya and Gurleen will host a Photography Competition for their Capstone Projects October 16th through October 20th. 

Zach S. wil hold a Bracelet Sale for Food Allergy Awareness the week of October 16 through October 20th.  Please see  the attached flyer for all the details. 

Abishek R  will hold a Pin Down Tournament on October 20th to benefit his Capstone Project. Please click here for more details.

On October 23 and 24th Grade 8 student Liam C. will presenting to Students in grades 3 and 4 about Meals on Wheels during 5 minutes of their PE Class as part of his Capstone Project.

Justin M. will be holding a toiletry drive from O ctober 23 through October to benefit Be Like Brit.  Requested items for the orphanage include  SoftSoap Liquid Hand Soap,  Blue Magic Hair Conditioner , and Clorox Disinfecting Wipes.  Please see the attached flyer for more details.

Joe D. is collecting donations for refugees resettling in Worcester County. His drive will take place 10/30 - 11/3. Please see this flyer for more information about refugees and the requested donation items.


Many hands make light work and the the BFCCPS Yearbook is a great example of this!  Every year students and staff eagerly await the arrival of yearbooks. It is only possible by the collaboration of many volunteers.

Please join us on October 16th for our first General Meeting of the year (all parents are welcome) taking place at the school at 7:00pm. Babysitting will be available in the art room for $10 per family for children ages five and up. This will support the Grade 7 Quebec trip.

BFCCPS Banking  be held every Thursday in the Library.  Registrations packets will be sent home to all Kindergarten students via Kid Mail this week.  Any other families that would like to register for BFCCPS Banking can pick up an application in the front office or contact Mrs. Jangareddi by email

A PCO sponsored Arts Enrichment assembly is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 20 . Author and storyteller Michael Tougias will be presenting his new book, So Close to Home, The True Story of an American Family's Fight for Survival During WWII He will be presenting to grades 5-8 at 9:20 AM. A Notice from the Central Office: 

Visitors:   All visitors to the school are required to sign in at the Front Office and wear a Visitor's badge. Visitors must be escorted at all times.  Thank you for your help with this!
Parking & Parking Lot Safety:  Parking is not allowed in marked reserved spots near the schools main entrance. These spots are reserved for the CCD program staff. 

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures:  Please adhere to the posted arrival and dismissal procedures which are posted  here  our website. If you plan on parking on Queen Street to pick up your children, you must park and walk into the courtyard to pick them up. Students may not walk across the playground to Queen Street regardless of their grade level. This is for their own personal safety. 

Absence and Dismissal Notification: If your child will be absent or tardy from school, Please contact Mrs. Tappin at  ltappin@bfccps.org or at  leave a voice message at the absent and tardy line 508-541-3434 and press 4.  Additionally, if you have to make any dismissal changes please email both your child(ren)'s homeroom teacher AND Mrs. Laura Tappin by email at  ltappin@bfccps.org by no later than 2 pm.

As a reminder, BFCCPS has an  extended absence policy which indicates that extended absences for non-medical reasons for more than 10 consecutive school days will not be approved and will result in dis-enrollment from BFCCPS unless caused by exceptional and unavoidable circumstances, such as a natural disaster, serious accident, or other situation deemed exceptional and unavoidable by the HOS.
