This section is designed to provide answers to frequently asked questions about Open Enrollment:

Question 1: Do I have to take any action if I do not want to make any changes to my current health plan option?

Answer: If you do not want to make any changes to your current health plan, you do not need to take action. Your current benefit plan elections will continue into the new plan year for 2025, including the dollar amount deductions you may have selected toward your Healthcare Flexible Spending Account (FSA), Limited Purpose FSA, Dependent Care FSA, and/or Health Savings Account (HSA).

We strongly encourage all staff, faculty, and benefits eligible adjuncts and temporary (OPS) employees to verify that your current providers remain in-network with your selected plan(s).

Question 2: Can I make changes at another time to my benefits plan outside of the Open Enrollment period?

Answer: As a benefit eligible employee, you can make changes to your plans within 60 days from the date they incur a Qualifying Status Change event (QSC). Changes include enrolling or cancelling, increasing or decreasing coverage, or adding or removing dependents.

A Qualifying Status Change (QSC) event includes, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Birth
  • Adoption
  • Divorce
  • Death
  • Medicare disability
  • Disability retirement

If you experience one of these events, send your documentation to People First within 60 days of the event.

If you miss your window, you may pay more for insurance than you need to or be responsible for claims incurred.

Question 3: Will the health plan insurance premium change affect me?

Answer: The employer and COBRA health insurance premiums will change for plan year 2025, with no impact to the full-time employee rates. Premium contributions for Part-Time Employees (FTE < 0.75) are available on the MyBenefits.MyFlorida.com website under the Premium Rates tab.
